I don't know where to put this, but quite frankly, it needs to be somewhere. I haven't heard Todd's name mentioned on these boards in forever. During his time with the Cubs he was a champ. He deserves to be remembered fondly and adorned with praise.

Share your favorite Todd Walker memories.

sunnydoo's bizarre hatred of him which lead to the todd walker photoshop thread.
I think that was Auggie Doggie. His bizarre hatred seemed to be a mitigating factor in his later banning as well.

The A's game was awesome. The almost-cycle against Clemens in 04.

Getting Jose Ceda for him.

My favorite memory? The many many times he didn't look like an idiot at the plate. Put up a .352 OBP in 2004, .355 in 2005, .356 (total) in 2006. OPS+ over 100 and OPS over .800 the first 2 seasons.

Just a solid player.

I heard about him a few weeks ago. He was in the paper b/c he was doing a hitting clinic at his old high school here.

I've seen him around town a few times since he was released. Still scruffy.

My favorite memory of him was in HS - one of my teammates had him 0-2 with two curveballs. Made him looke stupid on the first 2 swings. Coach called for a fastball and he hit the gym off one bounce. Prolly hit that ball 450 feet. Good call, coach. Todd also led the state in goals in soccer. Hell of an athlete.

Go mow the lawn, Nick.

That would be mine...and I think the exact quote was "time to mow the lawn, nick"

Egads, so close.

Todds one of those guys whose not good enough to be an everyday starter, but too good to be bench player, so its hard for teams to find a place for a guy like that. Also, while he can play several different position defensively, hes not very good at any of them.

Im sure he'll catch on somewhere this Spring. Its strange how he was just starting to find his groove in Oakland when they dumped him.

I'm not sure where you get the idea that Todd Walker was ever someone not good enough to be an everyday starter. He certainly was.

And he's retired. I don't think he wants to catch on anywhere in Spring.

It's hard to say, but just because he retired doesn't mean he doesn't want to come back. He retired last year, but at the same time he officially "retired" he said that he would welcome offers. There was simply no team who was willing to offer him a job.

What in the world does this mean? If he's too good for the bench but not good enough to start, where does that leave him? You've really only got two options, you know

Todd Walker was definately good enough to be a starter. He wasn't a good 2nd baseman, but I think he was a bit better than how bad everyone said he was.

I think the reason he didn't "catch" on anywhere might be the same reason he couldn't stick anywhere. I could be wrong, and often am.

That line cracked me up.
