Word is that Bruce Levine has been saying that the White Sox are prepared to offer the largest deal in team history to free agent center fielder Torii Hunter. The deal would be five years at $15m per year.

At least Hendry wouldn't go that far.

They better get somebody on the South Side. They have just resigned the entire team that has been one of the worst in the AL for the past year and a half.

Superb. They can sign David [Hustlehoff] Eckstein to play shortstop and call it an offseason.

Barring a trade, the Uribe signing ended the Eckstein Sox interest.

I just can't imagine him doing this, even though that's a LOT of money. This is like Damon going from the Red Sox to the Yankees, only much worse. Hunter's been the main face of the Twins for years. I can't imagine what folks in MN would say about this.

No? The Redsox/Yankees rivalry is on entirely another level than the whitesox/twins.

As for him being the face of the twins...Johan Santana? Joe Mauer?

I think this would be a whole lot more like former-brewer Jeromy Burnitz coming signing with the Cubs; not a big deal at all.
