Eat dirt Eric Byrnes.

He did.

Congrats Rockies. Well-deserved. Rockies would've owned Chicago if the Cubs made it to the NLCS.

yay! for the first time in a long time, i'm okay with any of the remaining playoff teams winning the world series.

Even the Red Sox??

Same here. Definitely not pulling too hard for the Sox, but none of the three remaining taking this would bother me at all.

Good for the Rox. I was really feeling bad for them by the time they got done getting swept out of Chicago. They went on to blow some pretty painful games after that. This has been a fun run to watch. This is the first time since the total apathy of '02 that the World Series winner will not be completely unbearable.

no, actually the cubs would have done the unbelievable...they would have made it a good NLCS...i don't know if they would have won, but i know they wouldn't have been swept...

i am SO happy the diamonds got the broom...hopefully it will make them realize that they were lucky that the cubs fell over and played possum

If you're semi-okay with the Red Sox winning this year, why was them winning in 2004 unbearable? I mean, not only did they complete the biggest comeback in the history of baseball in the ALCS but they dominated the Cardinals in the World Series.

I was totally fine with the Red Sox winning it all in 2004 since they dispatched the Yankees and the Cardinals. And they also put an end to the whole "Curse of the Bambino" nonsense to boot. We are now spared years of all of that talk.

Might as well back a truck up to Matt Holliday's home, full of money and naked women. He should be revered like a rock star. And while it wouldn't be horrible to see an exciting young team like the Rockies win it all, deep down it blows to see a team get to the World Series that wasn't even in existence the last time the Cubs made it there.

Marlins, Angels, D'Backs, Rockies in recent years. If the Mariners, Devil Rays, Astros, and Nationals win before the Cubs, I will shoot myself.

Man, it sure depresses me to see people celebrating though. Please let this happen to me someday.

I wonder what that feels like? Someday......someday.

130ish days before Spring Training... :x

What is the basis for your argument? The Rockies have the most potent offense in baseball, and it's clear their pitching staff can get the job done, too. I live in Denver and get to watch lots of Rockies games. Based on what I've seen from them this year, they would steamroll the Cubs (which happened when the Cubs were here in August).

Well at least the best story in the National League will be going to the WS. If the DBacks would have gone, I'm convinced that everything white in this world would have turned black, the earth would have cracked open, and Satan would have crawled out.

Not sure I would agree with the Rockies being "the most potent offense in baseball," but I do agree that they are better than the Cubs. The Cubs may have some big names, but those big names looked like little girls against the D-Backs. We will not go to the World Series next year unless we add a couple of missing pieces.

They split that series, and the Cubs won the season series 5-2.

Indeed it was a split in a 4-game series. Cubs won Thursday and Friday while the Rox took the weekend games. (and won huge on Saturday) It was more like a Gremlin going head to head against a Pinto.

And if you ever go to Coors Field for a Cubs game, stop by the Sports Column beforehand for $2 Old Style before the game.

Good for them. They're in the midst of an EPIC hot streak. I think the Red Sox match up better against them than Cleveland does, and I think a Boston/Colorado World Series would be a very good one.

Yeah I think Sox/Rox would be a decent WS, better than I had hoped for considering how the NL playoffs were an unmitigated disaster.

Trouble is, the Sox are sorta in trouble themselves. Tribe/Rox would likely be much less intriguing, although I would definitely watch. Put a decent AL team against the Rockies and I think you have the potential for some good entertainment.
