I'm happy to see Blanco recover from his 5/40 start. In his last 74 at-bats, he's batted at a .284/.354/.486 clip. It at least shows that he might be recovered somewhat from his injury, and might resume putting up his regular backup catcher numbers instead of a horrifically bad line next year.

Any idea how many of Cedeno's errors came at SS as opposed the OF? The errors made in the OF are forgiveable since it is new for him. I know the fields aren't ML quality, but that many errors at SS is concerning.

I'm willing to cut a little slack since most of his practice is undoubtedly coming in the OF. I'm willing to cut a bit more slack because of the typical field conditions down there.

But that's a crapload of errors.

1 error at CF, the rest at SS.

He's always had high error totals throughout his minor and major career so while the fields play a role so does his high error totals of the past, it deserves being factored into the mix.

Other VWL SS's also play on VWL fields. Cedeno had a high error volume and high error-rate relative to his league. If all the SS's made errors at Ronny's rate, it would be easier to blame the fields. That Ronny is on top (or at least was several weeks ago when I last checked in detail) suggests otherwise.

Agreed, this is definitely a negative trend that has followed him his entire career regardless of playing surface.

And furthers my belief, all things being equal, barring an offensive explosion in ST, Theriot is the starting SS.

I wish there was choice "C".

He was a better fielder in the majors than this, wasn't he? He was good enough in 2006 as a 23 year old, and you thought he could just get better, but instead he seems to be getting worse.
