I'm hoping to be singing this in a 4,000,000 member choir on 7 Oct.

I think this is closer to the right #...other than that, agreed :D

Cool kids don't need avatars or sigs

That's how I roll.

Actually I'm too old/stupid to figure out something so simple as putting up a picture online.

Now go Cubs! And Cards!

That's probably true, but I was also trying to flaunt my location for that day

I expect to see plenty of this tonight.

EDIT - This was the exact moment I was 'sold' on Aramis Ramirez, btw.

The most excited I've ever been as a Cubs fan. I'm definitely down for some recreation on their part.

That was the one time in my life I really let my guard down with them. I thought for sure after that game we were going to the World Series.

I thought for sure in 1984 we were going to the World Series. That scared me as a Cubs fan forever. I knew in 2003 after game 5 we were in trouble. We looked flat in that game. After the game I went on espn.com message board and told everyone that we are going to blow this. I just felt it. Of course everyone laughed at me...

Of course, they were 5 outs away from taking it in game 6. I'm not sure how dead on your feeling was on that one. ;) I don't think it had anything to do with them being "flat," per se. They just got owned by a Josh Beckett who was dead freaking on in Game 5.

It took one of the most absurd sequence of events I've ever seen in a baseball game for them to blow that. 9/10 times, the Cubs win that game.

My Dad bought champagne and had it on ice after game 2. We watched in horror for 3 consecutive games as our best players just all of a sudden couldn't do anything right.

....watched in horror as the evil Garvey ripped our hearts out. I was too young, it was only several years later I discovered the league took away our rightful home field advantage. 1984 hurt me on a very deep level.

But that was to go to the World Series. I've since learned that this club can make the playoffs. We've done it several times. The big hump is winning that 4th game in the NLCS. We aren't there yet.

I continue to see people say this happened. It simply isn't true.

It isn't? Cubs had the better record. I thought it was because the Cubs couldn't have night games and that would effect the ratings.

Edit: I just read it was a rotating field advantage. I didn't remember that. Interersting.

Up through 1984, it was rotating home field in a 2-3 format. The NL West had home field advantage in even numbered years, the NL East had home field advantage in odd numbered years.

Yes. I do remember that now. I totally forgot about that!

That's a pretty bad system for determining HFA. Of course they used to use that for the World Series too and now use the ASG. Can't say MLB has been good at deciding how to determine HFA.

Weather in Miami doesn't look to be being particularly cooperative right now (or for the rest of the series for that matter). Pretty much constant at a 70% chance of rain. Might be in for a long haul the next couple of nights.

I wonder what ever happened to best record determining it. Sure, the AL would have it every year, but that way only the team that makes the WS can earn their HFA. Now, whoever makes the WS from the NL is screwed out of HFA because TLR couldn't bat the NL's best hitter.

I could accept rotating the WS every year up until interleague play. (Although that was still a terrible idea) but doing it for the LCS makes no sense to me.

Win this tonight. If we win our last 2 series, we are in despite what the Brewers do. Trachsel pitching on Thursday doesn't exactly excite me, so we have to get it done today.

Dolphin Stadium is in Opa Locka.

Most of the precip is moving towards the west (and some of it is moving NW).

Is it wrong that I am feeling physically ill waiting for this game? Do I have a problem?

Yes. You are a Cub fan.

I wonder if that rain will scare away the 10 fans that were planning on going?

10 Marlin fans, you mean?

Yep. I'm guessing there will be quite a few Cub fans that are in attendance.

Man I didn't realize the power the Marlins have in their starting lineup.

Cabrera - 33

Uggla - 31

Ramirez - 28

Willingham - 21

Hermida - 17

Jacobs - 17

Olivo - 16

Compare that with the Cubs top 7 in HRs

Soriano - 31

Ramirez - 26

Lee - 20

DeRosa - 10

Floyd - 9

Murton - 7

Jones - 5

Thats 163 for their top 7 vs. 108 for ours. Lilly is a fly ball pitching. We'd better come out ready to get on base and match them in runs this series.
