Jesse Boulerice was suspended 25 games. definitely justified.

the flyers have racked up 45 games in suspensions this year already. wtg.

that was justified, i wouldn't have complained if it was even longer. However, the downie suspension was too long.

However, I have to ask why the penalties to Chris Simon and Jesse Boulerice are of equal length. Wasn't Simon's infraction much more serious?

no, they were pretty much the same play.

and downie's suspension was in large part because of his history. it probably had something to do with the game being an exhibition game. i think that was justified. i agree though that if it was...i dunno...jeff carter delivering the hit or something like that, then 20 games would be too much.

okay, IMO well swinging a stick at someone's head is worse than cross checking them in the face

OK I know the Hawks beat the Wings tonight but, They had Robert fricking Lang on the ice in a pulled goalie situation. Holy crap is the Hawks defensive forwards that bad that Lang would see any kind of ice time in these situations.

Just the fact that the Hawks have been in every one of their games against 3 of the best teams in the West is satisfying to me. But beating Detroit twice is amazing. I've been real impressed with this team so far. Khabibulin has been as good as you can imagine in the early going.

Who is Robert Lang?

A lazy, doesnt work in his own end forward who put up a lot of points playing with Jagr. He has played for the Wings the last few years. He was so bad last year during the playoffs he was limited to less than 5 minutes in a couple of games against Anaheim.

He won't have to worry about that sort of humiliation this year.

On a side note, Blues are looking pretty good so far. 3-1, two sellouts at home to start, and the only two goals the last two games have been knocked in by their own guys.

EJ has been out though. Should be back Weds at Chicago.

Anyone know whats going on in Detroit? I heard that a couple of their home games have had several thousand empty seats. They normally sell out every game.

the economy sucks in detroit, no one can afford to go to games. or at least that's what one of my friends tells me.

I've actually been to this lake. It's in Webster, MA, just north of the Massachusetts-Connecticut state line. My mom's cousin has a ridiculously nice and huge lakefront house, and they hosted a family reunion this year. From what I remember, the super-long word has something to do with "fishing place." But the locals say it means "I fish on my side, you fish on your side, nobody fishes in the middle."

The Senators are a great, great team. Gerber is on fire right now.

that was the best game i've seen them play yet. they really clamped down defensively in the third and gave up a bad luck goal late.

has anyone purchased the NHL Center Ice online package? We can't get Center Ice via our local cable company, so thought this might be a good option (since we can hook the laptop up to our plasma).

It's $160ish, so that's not horrible for an entire season, but wanted to get opinions before buying. My husband's a Leafs fan, and I'm a Detroit fan, so the local cable doesn't cut it (even though we get the Blues and the Blackhawks most of the time).

Would appreciate reviews if anyone has chosen to try this!

i bought it and it's decent. it crapped the bed for everyone who subscribed yesterday, but that was the only problem i've had with it.

yesterday, they had some transmission problem or something and all of the streams were extremely choppy.

if you want to see the quality, watch a game that's streamed on yahoo. that's roughly the same quality. local games and nationally broadcasted games are blacked out, i think.

vancouver finally looked good in a game that i watch.

what a great finish to the SJ/BOS game. 1-0 Bruins and the Sharks tie it with 30 seconds to go. Then about 20 seconds later the Bruins take the lead and hang on.

the sharks hit the post 5 times.

how bout those Blackhawks? Now 3-2 with all three wins of the comeback variety, Khabibulin is playing great, Toews and Kane are looking impressive, at least some things to be positive about right now.

Man, I can't believe I'm going to have to rely on the Blackhawks fighting for a playoff spot to quench my sports thirst for the next 6-7 months. Not the most reliable group to put your hopes on.

I believe the blackout area is larger then regular CI. Some Minnesota Wild games were blacked out for me in Iowa. While reg. CI they were not. If you can get Dish or DirecTV and order reg. CI through them. I got Dish and it's the best move I ever made. With Detroit you are cutting it close to being blacked out.

Playoffs or not, it should be a fun group to watch in terms of development.

Did you see that shift by the Sedins in the Van-Edm game? They kept the Oilers pinned in their own zone for over 2 minutes.

Edit: Found it on Youtube.

These guys are insane at controlling the puck.

Toronto falls on their face late. up 2-0 going into the third, the game goes to OT at 4-4 and they give up the GWG with 3 seconds left in OT. McCabe swatted it into his own net.

Vancouver falls asleep in the third and loses 4-2 despite controlling almost all of the first two periods. Nabokov played a great game for the Sharks.

vancouver has now looked bad in 3/4 games i've watched them play. they'll get it going eventually...but it's not good up there right now. injuries don't help either. the good news is that naslund and morrison are clicking again, they need naslund especially to have a big bounceback year.
