Bennett is not a rookie, he pitched a year in Milwaukee (2004). I know, because I recognize the extremely wide, flat bill of his cap.

To quote Harry, it'd be nice if he would bite the hand that once fed him.

Hmm...well, what do you know. I edited the thread. Now I feel even worse about this game since the Brewers obviously know the book on this guy.

Tomorrow's gonna be slow for me since there's no Baby Bears game or no evening plans. But I want to see this game! Is it possible to catch this via antenna from boring Wilmette if it's on local TV in Wisconsin?

Suppan's gonna get shelled. That Braves offense is pretty deadly.

You can say the same about the Brewers. No way that Bennett will hold down their offense. It's going to be a offense battle tonight.

You would think that with the Braves still mathematically in their own division race, that they wouldn't start a guy for the first time in September. :x

they're getting Smoltz and Hudson on Friday and Saturday.

He may be the best option they got.

I'm taking comfort in the fact that the not so good Brewer pitching is going to be facing a really good lineup. No more three (Pence, Lee and Berkman) hitters and a bunch of crap, it'll probably come down to the bullpens.

Guys, he's replacing Lance Cormier. You remember, the same pitcher who got the Cubs rolling by giving up 8 runs in Wrigley and then the next week giving up 5 runs in less than 4 innings, along with 3 home runs to Soriano?

This guy is an improvement. At least he has a chance of putting together a decent outing. Cormier had a 7.09 ERA on the year.

i'll be in Florida from Saturday through Wednesday....vacation will be nice, but being away from this race will kill me

The Cub will be in Florida for the last 2 days of your trip at least.

And their rotation is pretty awful as is outside of Smoltz and Hudson. Chuck James and Jo Jo Reyes have been consistently in the rotation, but the fifth spot has been held down for a while by Lance Cormier. Yes, the same Lance Cormier that Soriano went deep on every single AB earlier this year.

Basically, Jeff Bennett is pitching instead of Cormier. That could be a blessing for us.

Yea, the Brave lineup is very stacked. Andruw Jones, Yuniel Escobar, Chipper, Mark Teixeira, Brian McCann, etc are looking a lot better than JR Towles and Cody Ransom.

IF the Braves play up to their ability, there's no reason they shouldn't win this series and help us out greatly.

So are the Braves tanking it then? Throwing junk pitchers that the Crew has a nice long scouting report on??

Don't forget we also never had to face Teixeira, so it sorta evens out.

[sarcasm]No way, maaaaaaaaaannnnn! He and Woody Williams are the aces that could easily shut down the Brewers, maaaaaaaaannnnn! It's all a conspiracy and Selig is dirty, maaaaaaaaaannnnnn![/sarcasm]

I don't think it evens out. At all. This is driving me to drink.

This just in: Mark Teixiera is pregnant and having a baby, therefore will not be able to play the series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
