Did Jon go into hiding because of the Duke game?

GO DUKE! I was at that game, and it was AWESOME!

If NU fans went into hiding after bad losses, they'd all be hermits.

LOL so true.

Being a Cubs fan and a NU fan teaches you a lot about life.........and how your mom was right "there will be days like this." 8-)

yeah kinda looks like him, and now that you mention it the guy next to him looks a little like Sam Zell.

I was just gonna say that.

I was going to say maybe he bought that oldish looking Cubs hat off of somebody, but now that I look closer I don't even think it's a Cubs hat.

Not only was it good that Ted Lilly pitched well tonight because it helped the team pick up the win, but this could bode well IF the Cubs make the playoffs and we need him to pitch on 3 days rest. 7 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 K's is a line I'll take any day and twice on Sunday's. Excellent job, Ted.

Also, something I found funny was Lilly's little fist pump after his K of Alex Gonzalez to end the seventh inning. If that was Z he would have been going nuts right there. But all Lilly did was a little fist pump and that was it.

Note: I'm not saying I like Ted's reaction better than Z's at all, I was just pointing it out.

Zambrano's reaction would have been to walk him, give up a single, hit the next batter, then give up another hit that scores at least 2 runs before being yanked.

then he'd point at the sky and thank god for being so crappy

I hate when people say that; it's ignorant.

He does that every single time he leaves the field; good or bad. I'm positive it's a religious thing and pretty disrespectful when people make comments like that, in my opinion.

you're entitled to your opinion, but I think it shows up the other team as much as a fist pump or anything. it's pretty clear God is not a Cubs fan

This is where we agree to disagree.

But, in my opinion, it's no different then when a batter makes a cross across his chest before going to bat. He does it every single time, whether winning or losing; and because of that I don't think it can be seen as showing anyone up.

i think what Z does is a lot more demonstrative than a subtle crossing of one's self. he gets a big inning-ending K, pumps his fist, screams, then points at the sky.

FWIW, I hate it when Pujols and Bonds do it too. God doesn't give a crap if you hit a home run. Seriously

I wasn't commenting on the fist pump though. I'm only talking about the point to the sky right before he goes into the dugout.

i think he knows it gets him on TV. i have no problem with him thanking God, but let's not pretend that genuflecting in front of TV cameras and 40,000 people isn't for show

I dont think it necessarily is. If he really wanted to make a spectacle out of it he could do it when he was atop the mound; but he doesnt. He does it one step away from the dugout, or if nothing else when he is crossing the foul line. You can say "well why doesn't he do it in the dugout, then." Well, most likely because you can't see the sky in the dugout, and that's the whole point of what he's doing.

agree to disagree then. i'm sure there a great many ballplayers who quietly thank god or say a prayer without making a big deal out of it.

Im sure there are; but everyone practices their religion differently.

funny how you don't see businessmen thumping their chests and pointing at the sky after business meetings

Funny that business men didnt just finish performing strenuous activity, using their exceptional athletic talent which, in their belief, God gave them.

To be fair, Z did that in the minors too. He's always been very animated.

Isnt the mustache dude, Dennis Fitzsimmons?

the guy next to him looks a little like Sam Zell.

Bingo.

But then again, who else would we expect to see in what are considered the absolute best seats in the house?
