I think we're going to sweep. Yes, I'm serious.

No way...I just don't see that happening.

I do. We just came off a huge series in St. Louis, burying the Cardinals. Returning home to a Wrigley crowd that's likely to be pretty lively, as well as playing a crappy team, I think we're going to win. Despite our struggles against them, the Reds are not a good team. Hell, we SHOULD sweep.

It almost defies reason..........

CUBS are 5-7 vs. Cincinnati

CUBS are 8-7 vs. Houston

CUBS are 9-6 vs. Milwaukee

CUBS are 5-7 vs. Pittsburgh

CUBS are 11-5 vs. St. Louis

CUBS are 38-32 vs. the NLC Division

Time to start beating the teams who no longer have anything to play for.

Time to beat the Reds. No more excuses. Arroyo -- Christ come on it's not like he's Cy Young.

More like Babe Ruth when he plays against the Cubs.

Actually they've played pretty well since they canned their manager.

And unfortunately, we get Harang 2x in our last 6 games with the Reds.

Since the Reds last came to Chicago on Tues 14 Aug, they're 17-14 (.548). Over that same span, the CUBS are 18-13 (.581). Let's don't take these guys too lightly.

Reds could be 0-31 in that span and I still wouldn't take them lightly. They'd abuse us anyway. I'd be pretty giddy if the Cubs took two from them this week.

Is this our last home set?

Yes, 6 at home, then 6 on the road to close out the season.

This looks like a brutal couple of days. Arroyo, Harrang and then that journeyman that beat the brewers in Milwaukee.

While the Brewers face a bunch of nobodies.

Good lord. Those projected opposing starters have all the makings of giving the Cubs another 04 finish. I'm definitely concerned about these two weeks.

At least we have some meaningful baseball to play.

The next win we have will equal our win total from 05, unfortunately, I don't see us reaching 03 or 04's level of wins.

I don't see us going 10-2.

The last week for day games at Wrigley, and they waste the first game on a night game. I really hope there are a few more day games before the roadtrip (and playoffs ) begin. Class is getting pretty brutal these days and the reprieve would be beyond welcome.

Your projected starters for the Cubs are wrong, I believe. With the days off on the 20th and 24th, my understanding is that they're going as I've corrected it above. They haven't named a starter for the 27th, but it's probably going to be Trachsel or Marshall.

On the positive side, if the Cubs do make it to the playoffs, the tough pitching they will see in the next 12 days should be a good primer.

I e-mailed the owner of Baseball Reference and asked him to add a "Totals" row to the Bat Vs. Pitch section... so he did.
