The Mike Brown interview was pretty sad towards the end. I feel bad for the guy.

What happened?

Initial diagnosis was sprained knee. When talking about it at the end he started to break down and cry. I guess he thinks there's a possibility that his career is over.

This defense is bad ass. LT was completly shut down and Rivers wasnt sitting back and picking people apart. The D had a lot of different sets and looks upfront. I wasnt expecting the D to look this good today, they are aggressive and know what they are doing without being wild. SD had great field position and that was the only way they were going to score a TD. No way could they sustain a good drive and march down the field on this defense.

Turnovers and fumbles by the RB's really hurt the offense. SD is great against the run and they helped them out by careless fumbles. Oline pass blocked well when it wasnt a predictable down and distance play. Oline had problems early run blocking last year, again this is SD they played today.

The Chiefs are going to get their asses handed to them.

He knows his body better than anyone, he knows serious injuries as well. Obviously, it sucks, he's a hell of a guy and captain for them.

He's a lot like Kerry Wood to me. You can see the frustration in his face and you know he wants to be out there and loves playing. He's a tough competitor and the heart of the defense. The defense really fell apart after he was taken out. I don't think the reason was because of Brown's injury, but it makes you wonder.

He is the heart of that defense, losing Harris hurt more as far as the talent of the defense last year, losing Brown hurt the heart of the D.

If he's done for the year...

Tom Zbikowski, here's to likely looking at you.

Whenever Brown is officially done, he needs to be made some sort of coach.

Wouldn't mind seeing him as a DB coach or something. He's a smart player and a really good person. Hopefully he isn't done yet, though.

I saw the replays of Brown and have a hard time envisioning the seriousness. I was worried Urlacher was done for the year last year so im waiting to hear official word he is done. Although even Alex Brown didnt sound optimisitc about Mike Brown.

I wasn't aware a sprained knee was such a serious injury... I figured it would be a couple weeks maybe.

Depends on the severity. A "forth degree" sprain is actually when the ligament rips and would require surgery. Add in the fact that he has had knee problems in the past, and he would likely miss most of, if not all, of the season.

A sprained knee is what they're calling it until they get MRI's and the like...then the bad news will come.

EDIT: FWIW, I posted this at WCF also. The post review has been turned off for the game thread forum.

i hope not. even in college zbikowski has fairly slow playing speed, and cant cover Wrs

While Grossman didn't cost them the game, he didn't have a good game, I know that INT was on Berrian and the playcalling sucked, but there were some open WRs he missed early on.

That said, getting that running game going is the key.

Rex had 11 inc. today. I would say at least half of those came on plays where he had zero time. literally none. hit before he reached his drop back spot. most of the rest came on plays where he was at least hurried, and on those occasions he smartly threw the ball away, or put it where only his receiver could get it.

he was a little shaky early on, but that's to be expected with bad field position, and getting lit up on his first drop back. every QB is going to throw a bad ball or two in every game. I seriously don't remember seeing him miss any open receivers, accept a couple of side line balls where the made the safe throw instead of the aggressive throw, which were probably the right decisions.

Teams figured out after a few games last season that you could make Rex panic by putting a lot of pressure on him. Really, he showed a ton off improvement today in that aspect of his game. I couldn't believe people were venting hate at him after a game where he and clark were basically the two best offensive players
