I wish Soriano had gotten time in RF during spring training. Having him jump from LF to CF was always a sketchy proposition. RF would have been far more doable.

Yeah. Funny how Soriano had to move back to LF to be comfortable, yet Lou didnt seem to care how comfortable Murton and Floyd were. Its like he has to bat Lead off to be comfortable. Seems the Cubs are making a lot of concessions for Soriano. It doesnt make a difference if he is asking for them or not. Where I work we like to call these type of people High Maintenance.

Besides the leadoff requirement -- Floyd, Murton, and Jones have all had to play out of position to accommodate Lord Alfonso. We used to think Sammy Sosa was a diva, but he was never this much trouble. At least Sammy was an actual major league star. Even in Sammy's disappointing final season with the Cubs he still had a higher OPS than Soriano and played a more demanding position. Nobody else had to play out of position because of him either.

Wanna pin point the problem with Soriano-Here gos. He wants to have his cake and eat it to. he wants to bat in the leadoff spot, however, he wants to swing like a clean up spot. Even he cant figure himself out.

this is just hilarious. soriano has never demanded to bat lead off and never demanded to be moved back to lf. where you people get this stuff?

what does "swing like a clean-up spot" even mean? I want all of my hitters trying to hit the ball hard somewhere, I hope you're not implying leadoff hitters should be slap hitters. We tried that already, it didn't work so well.

I would hope youd know the difference between the job of a leadoff man and a clean up hitter.

So you want him to either move out of the leadoff spot or turn into a slap hitter? Yeah let's take away his best attribute and turn him into Juan Pierre.

Why, why, why? How many times a game does he leadoff an inning after the first? So with a man on 1st and 2 outs, does he still have to swing "like a leadoff hitter" or can he "swing like a clean-up spot"?

maybe people are forgetting this is only his second year playing OF? Sure Murton and Floyd has looked clueless in RF at times this year, but they have many more years of OF experience. I'm not saying Soriano would or would not suceed in RF, but it's reasonable to think he would be just as bad or worse in RF this year. I'd like to see him work on playing RF this offseason and in ST next year and then go from there.

The job of the leadoff hitter is to get on base and produce runs produce runs. The job of the cleanup hitter is to get on base and produce runs. That's also the job of every other hitter in the lineup.
