Thank you San Francisco - they lead 5-4.

The only thing keeping the Cubs in first right now is the utter collapse of the Brewers.

Of course, the only thing keeping the Brewers and Cards in striking distance is the Cubs' crappy play.

Have we really played that crappy lately? Before this series, we had one the last two. We still might win this one.

Over the last two weeks, we've played roughly .500 baseball.

And that's no way to win a pennant chase.

We have been crappy, but no more or less so than you would expect.

The players make up the team. Just because past teams have failed doesn't mean this unit will too. Yeah talent wise they don't look too good compared to other teams but that doesn't mean they are going to fail because they are the "Cobs".

You haven't been around this team long, have you?

Since 2002. Most of the current Cubs haven't been around that long either.

The only point I had is that it's very annoying to see someone make sure everyone knows how optimistic they are during every single game no matter what's happening. You can say bad things about the Cubs, they won't hate you.

I'm optimistic but not as much as you think. Kinda funny how this whole issue started with me simply saying...lol you guys are funny.

Because it's a running posting theme with you and it can't help but often come across as being very mocking of people here.

That's pretty much what I've been seeing.

He's actually right, though. A lot of you guys are pretty funny in these threads. After a nice win, go back and read through some of the stuff. It's golden.

BREWS LOSE!!!

So {on the bright side of things}, we can be no worse than 1.5 up when starting the EVER-CRITICAL series vs MIL. So even if the unthinkable happens in that series, we'd only be 1.5 back at most.

The game threads are a lot like watching a game. We over react to the good and the bad. I know I run extremes here. It's one of the reasons I don't usually post in other threads during the game.

In game threads I often react rather than think.
