Am I wrong to interpret this as the White Sox focusing yet another ad campaign on subtly (or not so subtly) ripping the Cubs? Maybe I've just come to expect it, so I'm reading to much into things, but it looks like another ad campaign focused on competing with us.

Of course. The Sox and their fans have always been obsessed with the Cubs and understandably so. They're Chicago's red-headed step child.

Yeah, there are a few that I remember seeing on the train that were definitely ripping the Cubs.

Something along the lines of "Our fans don't think losing is loveable" That's not it, but you get the point.

I personally think they're violating GrinderBall Rule #67: Never say your team is good when you suck.

Here are some from their site:

"One-year-olds have been waiting a lifetime for a World Series."

"We have nine more ring fingers."

"Let's party like it's 2005."

"We haven't won a championship in like... months."

"Role models for people who like to win."

I mean, it gives you a clue as to where their fans get it. A guy was making fun of the Cubs for "having a bad century". I had to carefully and kindly explain to him that the White Sox clearly had a worse 20th century than the Cubs did... haha

I wonder if they'll brag about their starting pitching anytime soon?

Funny that the guy in that poster has an excellent chance of losing 20 games this season. Really, how many guys have lost 14 games in JUST FOUR MONTHS?

A sox fan insinuated I was a bandwagon fan the other day, upon hearing that I was a Cub fan. Talk about the irony. How many people jumped on board with the sox in october of 2005?

And how many have jumped off since?

Walking to my seat at the Cell I saw on the wall:

"Grinder Rule No. 1: Win, or die trying"

Needless to say I took a picture, and then watched Zambrano shred them.

I thought "Win or Die Trying" was the Iraqi soccer team's #1 rule under Saddam.

:rimshot: Eh? Eh?

Is Kip Wells even that bad?

Yeah, those ads are everywhere. They made sure to flood the Red Line with them because it's the only train that goes to both stadiums. A lot of them have been drawn on by now. My personal favorite was the guy that wrote, "You can't win another World Series from last place."

Heck, all they need to do is change the "We" to "Were" and they can still use the campaign for awhile. Did they really think that Cubs fans were going to suddenly become Sox fans because they played great baseball for two weeks back in 05 and won their first WS in 85+ years? Glad to see that the city of Chicago is right back where it belongs in Cubbie blue and red.

Please. Give them respect where it's due.

Nope. Kip Wells only has 13 losses.

It's funny and so ironic. The Cubs (especially since they are doing well) are Chicago baseball. And a team that has a sucky record and clearly NOT chicago baseball, is trying to say that they are through ad campaigns.
