Makes alot of sense with Utley out, hope the white sox didn't get anything good!!!
I hope the White Sox DO get someone good, because that would weaken the Phillies and hurt their Wild Card chances. :D

No kidding. People need to put things in perspective. The Phillies are much more of a competitor for the Cubs than the CWS, despite the rivalry.

And to me it's really more of a fans' rivalry anyway. As far as the team is concerned usually their biggest rivalry is with the Cardinals and this year it is with the Brewers.

Sox get Michael Dubee (sp?), son of Phils pitching coach Rich.

...a reliever in Low A.

Say what?

I was wondering the same thing. I would have thought they could get a bit more for Iguchi. Phillies did a good job here, in my opinion. They get a solid second baseman to fill in at second base this season. Although his numbers are down a bit this year.

Iguchi is a free agent at season's end, so they can let him walk. And they didn't give up much (so it seems).

That's gotta be weird when your son gets traded from the same organization that you are in.

He's not a great player, but for a guy with a career .346 OBP and 98 OPS+ as a second baseman, the Sox should've been able to better than that. Basically the phillies took a dump in a box and are shipping it to the White Sox.

My Dad (the diehard Sox fan from birth) is livid. He just called me to vent.

I was under the impression he was doing much worse than he actually is so far this year.

yeah his batting average has been lower, but that's because his BABIP is .300 (as opposed to .338 and .325 the last two years). His walk rate is actually up, though is power is down a bit. His LD% is still solid (20%) so he's probably just been a little unlucky. He's actually pretty good, and the White Sox gave him away for next to nothing.

I just don't understand what Kenny Williams is trying to do here. Beyond the fact that he could have gotten more for Iguchi, why a single A middle reliever?

My only thinking is that he is so angry/distraught about the current White Sox bullpen that he is just going to stock pile reliever after reliever to try and ensure that the current situation does not happen again in the future.

That's the best I can come up with.
