Wacky trade proposal: Matt Murton for a redux of Kenny Lofton, who by all accounts is the fastest 70-year-old in the world. -- Keith Knepp, Nappanee

Why fix it when it's not even broke? Izturis especially, and Bowen were two very good finds. The team is winning and you go and trade Izturis for nothing that is going to benefit the team for the rest of this season, while giving up an excellent shortstop. I am completely dumbfounded why the organization gives up on a 27-year-old Gold Glove shortstop, and nothing to get them to the ultimate goal this season. Nothing against Mr. Theriot, we all know he is very capable, I just feel the air has been kind of let out of the bubble as far as the Cubbies' fortune has gone since this move to the Pirates has been made. -- Mike St. Amand, Chatham, Ill.

R. Hill, J. Jones, S. Eyre to Chisox for Garland. F. Pie and a pitching prospect to Tampa for Crawford. Guzman and M. Murton to the Pirates for D. Marte and X. Nady. Every hole is then filled. A better lefty in the pen. A righty for the bench or to play for Floyd when he's hurt. A CF that can play defense, run, hit and have some pop in his bat, and a better righty than Marquis. -- Walter Jason, Carl Junction, Mo

i'd maybe punch that second guy if i saw him on the street.

i read this one on another forum tonight.

Marquis and Jones for Dontrelle and a minor leaguer or a back-up.

They have enough young talent their anyway.

No thanks, we would be giving up way too much. If they threw in Cabrera...

i personally like the one where the guy wanted to give eyre and cash to the tigers for nothing....that was the most realistic and best trade ever

I'd like this trade if it was to the Brewers.

Eyre could be Balfour's setup man. Sounds like a good deal to me.

That has to be some sort of inside joke or something. Even a Cubs fan who pays almost no attention should know that Izturis was terrible.
