I really think this team is gonna have its best defense over the Urlacher era. It wouldn't surprise me, if they stay healthy, if they break some records. Should definitely be pretty good.

At the very least with Briggs in the fold they have an incredible amount of depth. I was freaking about DT after they cut Tank and now it could be their deepest position, what with Harris, Walker, Adams and Dusty. Plus the have 5 DEs. Amazing.

John Clayton was on Mike and Mike this morning and Greenberg asked him what the most impressive thing he's seen so far in his camp tour. The Bears Offense.

Apparently, Clayton was on Mike and Mike this morning and said the following.

...they were talking to John Clayton about all of the mini camps he has been too. Out of all the teams he has seen, Lions, Packers, Colts, etc. The biggest impression he spoke of was how good the Bears offense looked. He said that Devin Hester looks lik a faster Steve Smith. He said Garret Wolfe and Olsen look good and Grossman looks improved.

Dont usually hear alot of positive coming from ESPN over the bears though i would share.

Wow, didn't expect that contract, but I guess no one did so.... :D

One more reason the Bears are going to be a better team than last year.

The Cubs are going great and the Bears look like they're going to have a tremendous season. I keep expecting the other shoe to drop; this almost seems too good to be true.

It'll drop. I'll predict it right now that the Blackhawks are going to disappoint and not make the playoffs.

It's called reality man. Sure, the WS is likely the Cubs to win, and the Bears are a lock for the Super Bowl, but I'm telling you and all the other happy happy, joy joy everything is perfect newbies that the Blackhawks young players are going to disappoint this year and the team will be drafting high again next year.

Oh, and the Bulls won't win the East either.

If the Blackhawks continuing to suck is the only other shoe that will drop, I'll take it

Just pray for health. Pray for health...

With Rusty Jones, hopefully we dont have to pray.

Lord knows that praying doesn't do us any good in Chicago anyway.

Fortunately by that time another baseball season will have started with a new Cubs owner. Whether that's reason for excitement or despair remains to be seen.

Yeah...my Mr Negativity comment really was just sarcasm...

So a lot of positive things coming out of camp. I guess the players are also saying that Hester looks like Steve Smith out there as WR. He blew right past Vasher and M. Brown in practice. The Bears are also using 2 TE sets with Olsen and Clark. The guy from the score this morning said he never saw a LB play the 2 TE set so well and still get burned. They also said Archuletta has looked good out there, pre-Redskins Archuletta. They mentioned that Archuletta was wrongly being criticized for his play in Washington but in reality it was some of the players around them that made him look bad. This is all from the Score this morning btw, that Lawrence guy was there. Also, Darwin Walker has looked very good out there and is a definite improvement over tank.

high praise for Greg Olsen. I'd love to see more plays involving Grossman completing short passes to the TE's than to see him try to go 40 yards at a time on out routes

4. I think the first game of the season this year might well match the team in the NFC with the most talented 53-man roster (Chicago) at the team in the AFC with the most talented 53-man roster (San Diego). What an Armageddon game for the NFL's opening weekend. That is far and away the game of Week 1.

Ummm, who kidnapped Peter King and replaced him with a reasonable sports writer?

He did mention Walker might not be a good fit, which I thought was a silly comment. Lovie never, ever, looks for run cloggers from his DTs. Walker will be expected to fill his gap, yes, but the name of the game in Chicago is pressure, pressure, pressure from the front 4. Always has been under Lovie.

And here's the Clayton article:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp07/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=2956884

I'm confused by this part...

Now, the experiment is over. Hester is a receiver. Turner says that Hester will be on the field offense more than the five or six plays a game he logged last season. Hester predicts about 30 plays; however, there is one problem. He is so valuable as a returner that the team can't afford to see Hester get hurt on offense. Coaches will have to find the right balance in order to keep him fresh and healthy for the entire season.

Five or six plays a game on offense? Um...I'm thinking like 5 or 6 plays all YEAR if that? Is my memory failing me here?

they don't qualify the last part of that sentence with "on offense", though.
