I could say the most inane crap ever about Jason Marquis or some other random player, and no one will care.

I say one sentence about Murton the Savior and the entire thread dissolves into mud slinging and name calling.

I really hope he's recalled so he can hit .260/.310/.400, then maybe everyone will shut up about him.

So about that SLG% below 425 thing...

It's clear diamond dude has no idea as to what he's talking about and hates Murt cuz he's white. Remeber his silly idea that the only reason people like him is beecause he's white and has red hair.

No, I hate that people over inflate his value because appearance is something they're comfortable with.

Who is over inflating his value? Enlighten us. And just what is his value?

good to see you still haven't said who you'd like playing most of the time in rightfield.

4-4 with a grand slam and double, 6 RBI I believe tonight.

IT WAS IN AAA DUH

At a hitter's haven known as Colorado Springs. I'm not saying it should be discounted but that has to be taken into consideration.

Even if we were to adjust for the park factors, his OPS from tonight's game would be off the charts.

forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but has anyone seen Murton play RF in Iowa? Does he look more comfortable than he did in his few starts for the cubs?

No errors thus far, and according to a Road to Wrigley report he made several outstanding defensive plays(shoestring sliding catch, threw out runner at 3rd from foul territory) one game they saw him play.

Do not make generalizations such as this one ever again. They are inappropriate and against the board's guidelines. This post, as well as the assumption that people like Murton because he is white, are way out of line.

You are entitled to your opinion regarding Murton, and I encourage healthy debate about him, RF, and how to improve the Cubs. But you are not entitled to make racist generalizations about other posters.

i certainly welcome this from diamond mind, being as he's yet to say what he'd do.

I've seen him twice, plus a few assorted highlights on the news ( I live in the Des Moines area), and he hasn't looked too bad.

The last time I saw him he looked more comfortable than he did the first time I saw him there. He didn't have any terribly difficult plays, but made a couple a nice running catches. I did see a highlight of his throw to third. He was near the bullpen and made a good strong throw to third.

I think him playing RF would just be a matter of sticking him out there and letting him get comfortable. He won't ever be Vlad offensively or defensively, but I'd expect what he did last year at the plate and average D once he gets used to RF at Wrigley, assuming he played everyday.

Cool, thanks for the updates on matt's defense. It's hard to keep up with those things when you live so far away from the mid-west.

Ive seen two games on TV( it was hard to watch it was against Omaha and it was just Royal talk they have a nice bunch of kids) and he looked good had a couple nice plays too nothing highlight worthy got the ball to the right base and moved fairly well.

I thought he'd be in the starting lineup tonight(Lou Likes to throw them in) probably going to see him as a "D" replacement for Floyd
