Rotoworld has it, 15 days indeed.

Brewers placed RHP Ben Sheets on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 15, with a sprained right middle finger.

The Brewers haven't updated his condition, but it seems they didn't like whatever the MRI on Sheets' finger revealed. Yovani Gallardo is expected to claim the open spot in the rotation. Jul. 16 - 3:59 pm et

I'm not one to celebrate injuries, but... hooray. This can only help.

I don't know if it hurts them much in the short-term (15-day). Gallardo has some real potential and could easily give them a couple quality starts in Sheets' absense.

I don't think this will help us much because he won't be gone long enough. The guy they put in his place, Gallardo, is hot right now and will likely pitch well in his absence for a couple starts.

Yes but, before Sheets got hurt it was very possible that Gallardo would have replaced Capuano (or Vargas). The injury prevents an upgrade in the other slots in their rotation so they are actually no better having Gallardo replace Sheets.

Nice to see the competition have their season destroyed by an injury to their ace for a change. It's happened to the Cubs enough in recent years.

Considering the caliber of Sheets replacement, this won't destroy their season.

Gallardo is a stud. Hopefully he'll have some rookie ups n' downs...

Sheets is only supposed to be out for 2 weeks, though.

"Sheets (sprained finger) had an ultrasound done on Tuesday that revealed only a partial tear of tissue near the tendon, which means he shouldn't miss much more than the minimum two weeks, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel"

"Sheets was expected to miss anywhere from two to six weeks, depending on the damage to the ligament. The two week projection is good news to the Brewers and fantasy owners. Any injury to the pitching hand is still cause for concern, though, and it will be tough to predict how Sheets will pitch once he comes off of the DL"

Are they moving Gallardo to starter and Parra in the pen? For some reason, I was under the impression they were keeping Gallardo in the bullpen.

I believe they are moving Gallardo back to the rotation and will use Parra for long relief.
