They should seriously bat 9th.

Oh well, maybe Soto will pick up the output (hard to imagine it could get worse).

I remember Bob Brenly saying that when Ted Lilly looks at the lineups he say something about how he shouldn't be batting 9th (of course sarcastically).

Maybe he should say it in all seriousness.

yeah here's another hole we have to fix and probably won't.

With the way Ryan Doumit is hitting, I would expect that Ronny Paulino could be had pretty easilly. He's not hitting great but he has some offensive upside. Eric Munson is another decent option, I guess.

Of course one of Salty and McCann would be lovely.

salty's being waved at texas for texiera because McCann is blocking. Thusly, neither seem likely.

Asmodai,

Since you follow the minors, what's your thoughts on Jeff Clement from Seattle's AAA who is blocked by Johjima?

I mention this as possibly a bit cheaper acquisition to Salty/McCann. Even though I know this would never come to fruition.

If Cubs were losing, we'd have a reason to complain. Fortunately, Cubs have been one of the hottest teams during the same stretch you mentioned.

I guess that's the consequence in the trade-off. I'll gladly take it, though.

Hope the Yankees sell and trade for "Hip, Hip Jorge!"

ESPN Staff: HIP HIP, JORGE! HIP HIP JORGE!

One Staff Member: "Uhh Jorge is in Chicago now"

ESPN Staff: "What you mean there are other cities besides Boston and New York?"

Here's a stat for you guys that's positive:

Since Michael Barrett has been gone, the Cubs catchers have zero passed balls.

Really? That's an interesting one. The catchers havent cost us any ball games, and so I really can't complain right now.

What about throws into CF?

Our two primary catchers since Barrett was traded:

148/217/230

074/188/111

I'd rather have a few more passed balls and a little better hitting that. :puker:

I'm fine with what we have now..............if we're winning.

seriously, the catching is a problem. i can't believe people are like "oh well, we're winning, so it's ok." it's gonna catch up to them.

yeah, people like to imagine that every barrett passed ball cost the cubs 10 runs.

The Cubs are winning in spite of their catchers, not because of them. With this offense, they may not be winning for long.

They don't have zero hits but ok.

No, but they're closer than any players ever should be in that amount of playing time. Again, the Cubs are winning in spite of them, not because of them.
