I just can't help but imagine the comments about Wood from this board if he was in a different organization.

probably lots of jokes about the comeback, claims of overrated, etc.

I understand why he's popular with a lot of fans, but he hasn't contributed anything of value in 3 years.

We have won one playoff series in the last 100 years and Kerry is the main reason for it. That is why he can do nothing for three years yet still be the best.

Too bad game 7 happened? Where was he in that one?

From what I can recall, Dusty Baker got pantsed by an 103 year old man who got lucky with every decision he made and we lost after leading 5-3.

Seemed like the luck continued all the way through the World Series that year, much like it did for the Cards last year.

Per Rotoworld:

Kerry Wood (triceps) said he felt good Sunday, a day after his first rehab outing for the Cubs' rookie team.

Wood averaged 92-93 mph on his fastball during the inning of work. He will make his second rehab appearance on Monday or Tuesday.

It'll be like getting an all-star player without trading anyone.

meh. still just a reliever, and one that will need to be handled carefully. but i heart kerry and it would be a boost.

I think we might be expecting too much from Wood too soon. He is coming off significant downtime, he'll probably be inconsistent even if he is at 100%. Hopefully he can regain some of that consistency with regular work in the pen and become another reliable reliever for close games, but I'm not counting on it.

So has there been any word on if Wood pitched yesterday, or is he pitching today? Also this might be looking forward a little too much, but oh well. I was looking at the Chiefs schedule for the rest of July and they start a homestand on the 21st thru the 29th. Is it reasonable to expect Kerry to possibly pitch on that last day of their homestand, which is a Sunday, and the Cubs history would point towards him being there on a weekend, they arent dumb. After that the Chiefs dont have a home weekend game until the 18th of Aug. Am I projecting to fast, or does that seem reasonable? Since Im 5-10 mins away from O'Brien Field, Im eager to see Wood pitch there again.

I was joking. That's what Hendry and Dusty were saying last year.

Any idea what his PC and balls/strikes count were?

Not sure, but I did read that while the double was hit hard, the RBI single was a blooper that found a hole.

Really curious to what his velocity was at. At least he didn't walk anyone.

Wood is supposed to rest today, and then throw again tomorrow. Then he will rest Friday, and throw again on Sat. He will then fly back to Chicago for the bowling event, and they will decide from there what to do.

Wood went 1.0 IP with 1 H 0 R/ER 1 K and 0 BB with 1 GO and 0 FO.

He will pitch again on Saturday and then barring any setbacks, is expected to move to Peoria.

How many times does this happen to me, but I still get excited thinking about watching Woody in a cubs uniform? Even though I should no better. There's something romantic (not sexual, romantic as in romanticism) about it.

Am I the only one?

You're definitely not.

I don't know, Woody is pretty sexy.
