Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. From the Wikipedia article for Marshall.

2007 Season

Marshall was fighting for the 5th starting pitcher spot for the 2007 Chicago Cubs organization. After rehabbing from a torn rotator cuff he will start the season in Des Moines Iowa with the AAA Iowa Cubs. On May 22nd, Marshall was promoted to the Cubs starting rotation by manager Lou Piniella replacing Angel Guzman.[6] Marshall struggled to start his season with the Cubs, failing to win his first two starts. On June 3, 2007, he claimed his first win in 2007 by leading the Cubs to a 10-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves.[7]

Marshall extended his string of quality starts with two additional wins against the Atlanta Braves and the Seattle Mariners, improving his record to 3-2. On June 13, 2007, Sean pitched eight innings against Seattle, giving up seven hits and only two earned runs. He expressed his enthusiasm after the game.

More like he pitched very well but got absolutely no run support.

Dude. The wins column for a pitcher is the single most important stat there is. All the other numbers are good to have, but if you don't win they don't matter.

wins=good pitching

lack of wins=complete failure at life

Cubs still stink! Cubs lose the next 2 games and the series. The downward slide has begun...

The cubs will win the world series and you will still be pessimistic because they won't win for another 100 years.

With that said, I can't tell whether you're pessimistic or cautiously optimistic. I figured the 2nd one, but since you're generally pessimistic, I decided to respond. :D

I want 1 World Series in my lifetime. Go back to sucking after getting 1.

True but lack of run support is not a pitchers fault. It's not his job to produce runs it's eight other guys, his job is to limit other teams.

I propose we start a designated soul list. Given the undisputable evidence that God will trade cubs wins for NSBB souls, we must oblige.

I was overly pessimistic within the last game thread after the cubs went down 5-0. I will own up to it, i was pouting and acting like a bitch. I don't think anybody here could blame me bc of the cubs tendancy to break hearts....but I'm feeling it now, i'm on the wagon. Southpaw's quotes have inspired those playing and those following to their fullest degree :wink: .

Given the division or even the entire state of the NL, the cubs are RIGHT NOW in a position to declare their own destiny. If they falter then so be it, but if they keep playing at this level the sky is the limit!

I agree with you completely. It's a pretty long-running joke around here to make fun of pretty much all national media and anyone else who fails to realize that Big Z winning 14 (or whatever) games for a 67-win team with a 3.15-ish ERA had a better season than a 20-game winner in the AL east who had a near-5 ERA for an offensive juggernaut.

I feel the hourly sacrifice once a week will ultimately be worth it. I'm still kinda spooked that He apparently listened to me.
