I haven't heard anything in a while on either of these guys? Is Guzman's injury much more serious than first thought? Seems like he has been on the DL with no updates on his condition for a while now. Is Wood still on track to possibly come back in Aug.?

Thanks for any info.

Would be real nice to get the *good* Guzman back to buttress that staff. I have no idea what's going on with him though.

Woody -- I'm not going to allow myself to get my hopes up about him, probably ever again. It's too much of a yo-yo for me.

Wood has been throwing on flat ground I believe for a while now.

I actually witnessed it with my own Eyes on Saturday...

I was in the Bullpen Sports bar at the Comiskey cellular phone booth at Cabrini yards...or whatever it is these days...

and I looked up to see Kerry (damn does he look thin) playing "agressive catch" in the outfield. He was warming up just like everyone else...seemed fluid enough...

he stated in an interview recently that he is with the team on weekends when they are in Chicago.

I think he sits around all day smoking pot with Sean Marshall.

For what it's worth, I Just heard on ESPN 1000 that Kerry Wood has a bullpen session scheduled for tomorrow.

With a ball or a towel?

From a 6/25 Paul Sullivan article...

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070625cubsbits,1,7362179.story?coll=cs-home-headlines

Kerry Wood will throw his first bullpen session since spring training Tuesday at Wrigley Field, a big step back from the shoulder problem that has sidelined him the last three months.

The Cubs are putting no timetable on Wood's return, and it normally wouldn't take a reliever as long to rehab his arm as a starter. But the Cubs are expected to proceed cautiously, knowing Wood's history of returning before he's ready and then aggravating the injury.

If everything goes smoothly and Wood's arm strength returns, chances are he could begin a rehab stint soon after the All-Star break and be back by late July or early August.

Sounds a little overly optimistic, but it's at least good to hear that he's going to start throwing again.

Wow nice blurb, and no stupid zingers. Kerry must be nice to Sullivan and actually give him the time of day. Doesn't surprise me, as Kerry has always been a class act.

Sullivan seems to save his most venom for Prior, who used to routinely blow off Sullivan.

I hope Woody makes it back to at least make a couple of relief appearances by the end of the year. As I'm sure this is his last shot with the Cubs.
