... not impossible. Now, that would be a surprising trade if it happened.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6955650

"The Brewers, leading the NL Central by 8 ½ games, are kicking around the idea of trading for White Sox left-hander Mark Buehrle — a move that, while a longshot, would make sense."

The link also says this:

"Good luck to the Cubs in their continuing efforts to trade outfielder Jacque Jones, who has a .295 on-base percentage and two homers in 201 at-bats. Oh, and forget about the Cubs acquiring Reds right fielder Ken Griffey Jr. If the team can't sign right-hander Carlos Zambrano due to its ownership change, then it certainly can't take on Griffey's $12.5 million a year contract through '08, plus a $4 million buyout or $16.5 million club option for '09."

Do you think Rosenthal actually heard anything to back up the Junior thing or is he just copying what Stark said?

Ahhh, I'm sure he's just making it up too.

actually this doesn't make sense at all. They already have four healthy starters, Capuano will be back soon, and Gallardo has pitched well. They don't really need another starter.

It's not like he's reporting anything. He just basically gave his opinion/analysis of the situation as fact.

Hendry should go add a big salary player or sign Zambrano already, if the current owners are actually allowing him to take on salary this yr. and in the future. Hendry can then shut these reporters up who never actually know anything. Of course, it seems like they're right at this point or otherwise the Zambrano deal would have been done by now. This is all the info. they need to make the same statements over and over again.

Ken Rosenthal is a parrot, he has become Peter Gammons, Part II. He throws out a zillion items every week, well, a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile, too. It doesn't mean Rosenthal has any particularly keen insights to share.

Shoot, Crazy Rumor Guy has just as much material, to be honest. All of these folks simply relate stories they've found in local newspapers, online e-zines, etc...If you take it for entertainment and discussion purposes, it's fine, but it doesn't mean it's fact.

Why do all the reports that talk about the Cubs not being able to take on his $12.5 million a year salary fail to mention the fact he only gets paid $6 million a year because the rest is deferred?

Roast won't believe anyone on the Griffey rumors until they say what he wants them to. Then they'll clearly be right.

Didn't we go through this same thing this offseason when Bruce Miles said the Cubs weren't interested in Schmidt(I think maybe Zito?) and Roast went off about him saying that he had to be wrong cause he heard a report about the Cubs getting ready to sign him. Accept it already.

Rosenthal HAS turned into Gammons II...

There's no way Buehrle goes to the Brewers, it makes zero sense. They've actually got a log jam of quality starters, why do they need another?

I, too, am curious why nobody mentions Griffey's salary is deferred?

i still keep hearing Buerhle to Atlanta

I'd be shocked if he went there only because I have read in several places that they won't meet Williams' likely asking price in terms of prospects.

I was thinking the same thing. Brewers could probably better use another decent arm in the bullpen, maybe another bat. Their starters have been pretty good.

I would guess that the Phillies are gun shy trading pitchers from the Sox with the Freddy Garcia debacle.

I wish we were gun shy trading players to the Marlins after D. Willis. Then there was Pierre...

That was a garbage for garbage trade...I don't think it would prevent another Sox-Phillies deal.
