Who cares about the sox.

Yeah, I fail to understand that.

Understand this; I have friends and family members who are Sox fans. I've been inundated with nonsense about that team... They predicted greatness again this year even though conventional wisdom was against the team.

The comment I made earlier about their poll stands. If AJ were traded, you wouldn't have a poll during a Cubs game to solicit feelings about their players.

Yeah, that poll sounds like a joke but what do you expect?

They predicted greatness because for the last 7 years or so, they've been a .500 team or better every year. That's nice that you have friends and family members who are Sox fans. I'm sure a lot of us on here do. I just fail to see the point to completely root against them no matter what. I saw in rivalries that you wanted the Sox to win over the Pirates. That makes absolutely no sense, family members or not.

I care cause the game is on the TV at my office. And I've got 50 bucks on them being no more than 5 games better than the Cubs. And all my friends are Sox fans.

Sabean seems to be good at recognizing veteran players who still have it.(or else he's really lucky with them) But he's just so one tracked that he's had no plan for the future cause he's obsessed with having a veteran team to take advantage of the Bonds window. The problem is young guys can do that too. Once Bonds is gone, Sabes will be gone shortly thereafter thanks to his Cub-like history of developing hitters.

It makes sense because I don't view the Pirates as a viable threat to the Cubs but I was looking for 2 out of 3 and not a sweep. Conversely, I wouldn't root for the Brewers in a series against the Sox.

We all have teams that we root for and against (and they aren't always tied to divisional concerns). I grew up on the south side so it hits home for me.

Zito is really having an awful year this season.

Thank goodness the Cobs didn't give him all that freakin money.

This Royal fan (my 2nd favorate team) does. Seeing the Sox lose and hopefully that KC win tonight aganist St. Louis would mean that the KC is threatening to get out of the cellar in the AL Central, and the Sox in dead last.

In addition to that poll, the official WhiteSox homepage affiliated with mlb.com has that big fat banner on the top proclaiming that they "are Chicago baseball." Is there another team anywhere in professional sports whose very existence is so centered on another team the way the WSox are on the Cubs?

The Mets/Yankees/Red Sox threesome has a lot of the same elements.

I thought about them, and decided they have a big enough fanbase that it all seems to be a true rivalry whose fans care more about the success of their own team than the demise of the others, whereas the WSox issue seems to be more of a bastard stepchild complex.

The Yankees/Red Sox are in the same division and play each other a lot. It makes sense. Mets fans I think care a lot more about the Braves than the Yankees, but I'm not around it, so I could easily be wrong.

During the Mets/Cubs game at Shea a couple of days before the Mets/Yankees series, it seemed like the whole stadium erupted in a chant of, "Yankees Suck".

So when do we see White Sox bandwagoners become Cubs fans again?

We'll have to be remotely good for that to happen.

Nick Markakis with a beautiful play throwing out Gonzalez trying to stretch to a double. Wish the Cubs had a rightfielder who could throw guys out.

6-6, going to the top of 10th.

You fellas think Dusty Baker was terrible at managing his bullpen? Well, newsflash, Buddy Bell is worse.

Get this. 1 out, runner on 3rd and 1st, Buddy Bell brings in Jimmy Gobble, a lefty who relieve Dotel, to face Chris Duncan. Then for whatever reason, the Royals IBB'ed Duncan, and then Buddy Bell comes out to change Gobble.

In other words, Gobble was only used 4 pitches aganist a batter who sucks aganist LHP.

It's the AL, they don't need any of that baseball "strategery"...

If KC doesn't score here, this has the feel of one of those games that could go a really long time (as if it hasn't already). How did the Cards fail to push across the winning run from third with 1 out?
