So if someone isn't present for an argument one day, and participates in a similar argument later, they should be subject to condescension and derision?

Should they care? They don't need to take it personally. You can call me whatever the heck you want to. You can call me [expletive], stupid, arrogant and just a terrible person and I won't care because at the end of the day you only know me through a few posts which don't say much about me the person. It's the Internet, get over it.

You complain about not getting votes, but you behave like someone who doesn't care what others think of them. Do you really not care, or do you want to be known as a knowledgeable poster or an acerbic ass?

I could care less about winning this round. I have no shot to win it all. As you've guys said people don't like me, and I don't care. If I had to choose, I would say a knowledgeable ass.

It's a shame that someone with as much to offer as you seems bent on alienating himself.

See, you do like what I present. How it's presented shouldn't matter. Perhaps it's a test?

You make it very tough to moderate, though.

Moderating isn't supposed to be easy.

Intelligent posters like yourself behaving nicely makes it a lot easier, though.

I wouldn't doubt that. It would be even easier if people's feelings weren't as fragile as Mark Prior.

or if people who knew the rules about attacking/insulting other posters actually followed said rules

to be technically correct, I don't attack or insult the other person. I insult the argument. There's a critical difference.

"You're [expletive]" =/= "That's a [expletive] statement."

I make [expletive] statements, we all do.

Looking ahead to the Sweet 16, if UK/Ping Hitter wins and MOJ holds on, we're looking at the battle of two people who know more about the Spelling Bee than should be humanly possible. And the two people who brought us the Horny Wagon:

I said before the contest that it wasn't gonna lead to anything good.

It's only gonna cause conflicts, put-downs, and bragging rights.

I'm not so sure it will on a large scale. I lost to soccer10k - granted I was supposed to - but hold no personal grudge against those who voted against me.

In fact, I appreciate the simple fact that I did so well against a very popular poster. I have no problems with it and so long as noone takes it too seriously (some, I'm sure, will) it should be all good.

Solid.

I'll probably have to play 40 minutes of full court press like UAB......

I haven't seen any of this - at least non that's been taken seriously. Or maybe I should say - no more so than you see in any other thread. Mephis saying he's losing to a nobody is very similar in tone to something he'd post in any other thread.

I don't see a problem with people wanting to have a little fun with this thing. Esp since everyone in it opted in.

I'd not seen a lot of your posts before the polls started (don't quite know why) but I've started to notice you a lot more since we've been voting for each other - which is surely a good thing. If nothing other than as an 'introduction service' to people on the board. I know there were a few posters who'd not seen me posting, either.

MOJ must not forget, that it was likely during an IM that I 1st mentioned NSBB to him.
