Look I love Z as well, but doesnt it bother anyone else that he sucks for 2 months, then decides its a new season after the fight. Then proceeds to pitch 3 gems in a row? Where the hell was that the first 2 months? Its like he just decided one day to stop sucking.

Its like he just decided one day to stop sucking.

That's the story we're being sold at the moment.

I get the feeling he probably did sit up and realise that he wasn't doing everything he could do - be it injury related (which means we'll reap the problems with it later) or a mental issue (in which case, kudos thus far).

For now, I'm going to appreciate what we've got, and hold off the questions until they need to be asked.

I dont know I bought the injury thing at the beginning of the season, but Z was throwing 96 in the 9th inning in his last start. You cant do that if you are injured.

I hadn't realised that - I was away this weekend - he's a strange character, Z. When its going for him, its wonderful. When its not... just strange.

No, you guys have it all wrong. Z was pitching like crap because he was just pitching like crap. And one day he was like "hey, I dont wanna pitch like crap anymore." So he said "I'm not going to pitch like crap anymore" and the baseball, and his body, listened.

Z has that kind of power.

By the way, this is a Z appreciation thread, take your trade proposals somewhere else! (transactions forum?)

We should be able to get a good player for him in July now.

i still don't want to sign him because he is going to want 5 or 6 years and that is way too long

don't get me wrong, i really do love zambrano...the contract length is going to be silly though

5-6 years for a guy who's entering his prime, and you're worried about the length.

I could see if he was 30-31, but he's not.

I feel like if Zambrano signs the long term deal with the Cubs, he will have shoulder surgery somewhere in the neighborhood of June 2008. If he doesn't sign with the cubs, he will give a speech in upstate New York somewhere in the neighborhood of July 2028.

Get a deal done. Now.

If my deal, you mean a deal for Salty and two more Braves prospects, I agree.

I'll take that too, but letting Z go for nothing would be another mistake in a long line of mistakes that this franchise has made. As it is, I think the simplest thing to do is sign him to a 5 year deal tomorrow.

With Zambrano's resurgence, the Cubs should be able to open a bidding war for him. The Mets would get in. I suspect the Angels would too. I don't know if the Braves would, but they have some pieces I wouldn't mind having.

I don't know if the Braves would be interested in Z, because I don't think they could(or are willing to pay him). Though I hear they are after Buerhle so who knows.

Salty would be a good pickup for us..and who knows, the Braves are sticking with Thorman still at 1B and we know McCann isn't going anywhere.

I still think we would have to engage a third team to swing a deal with Atlanta.

It's great to see all the ridiculous people eat crow. All the negativity is gone. Not surprising with Cubs fans.

Huh? Most of us that were serious about trading him still want to trade him. If anything, his crappy pitching was turning us off to trading him because it was killing his value.
