Daytona is hosting the FSL All-Star game this year. Here are the D-Cubs who will participate in the various FanFest activities on Friday:

HR Derby: Tyler Colvin

Base Running (Speed): Chris Amador

Outfield Arms Contest: Chris Amador, Jesus Valdez (I thought Colvin had a better arm than Amador)

Bat Skills Contest: Matt Matulia

On a completely different note, Tennessee is a 1/2 game out of first place with 3 games remaining in the first half.

Wonder if Matt will make the start for Iowa tonight.

not in the lineup... OF is (left to right) hoffpauir, walker, coats. Wonder why Murton isn't playing; I think he has to be in the lineup every day.

Daryle Ward is playing first for the I-Cobs tonight, btw, and Soto is back at catcher.

Don Baylor apparently guest-managing for Iowa tonight. Patterson hits a leadoff double and with Cedeno (.983 OPS this year), Daryle Ward (solid major league hitter) and Soto (.940 OPS) coming up, Cedeno lays down a pointless sac bunt. Then Patterson walks home on a Ward double. Not sure about the wisdom of playing small ball in the first inning of a game in which both the starting pitchers have an ERA north of 6.

My guess is that Murton has decided to take his whole 72 hours available to him to get to the minors-which should mean that he should be in there tomorrow night.

dumb move on his part. His production has sucked and if he sulks about the move, then he'll been worse off. Heck, in 110 AB he has 1 hr and 8 rbi, Fonentot in 30 ab's has 2 hrs and 9 rbi.

My guess, we won't see Matt before Sept callups.

The three days may do him some good. It's pretty obvious that there were some issues between him and the coaching staff, and a couple days to clear his head and simply get away from the situation might help him report to Iowa ready to get his hitting corrected (and hopefully he'll be hitting right away) I don't think it will take more than a few weeks to come back up and probably again be in a 50/50 share of playing time with Floyd.

Memo to the PCL pitchers:

Ronny Cedeno is hot. 1-1 with a sac so far tonight.

He is 5 for his last 5, 7 for his last 10, and 13 for his last 25.

Ronny-O-Meter reads: .354

I really don't see the big deal about Murton taking the full 72 hours available - and it doesn't necessarily mean he's sulking either.

And RBI is a poor stat to use. Fontenot has out-produced Izturis in RBI too.

I'm pretty sure he isn't going to impress anyone by taking the whole time to report to Iowa. Especially after how everyone was gushing over Pie's attitude when he was worried about missing one AAA game after getting sent down. I would love to see Murton get some AB's and force his way back onto the roster.

Just read that Murton is expected to join Iowa tomorrow.

tennessee is down 3-0... huntsville dropped the first game of their doubleheader and has one more to go. If Tenn loses they'll be down a half game, and if Huntsville wins later, our smokies will be in trouble.

Tennessee lost so they drop back to 1/2 back. Huntsville is losing 1-0 after two!

Yes, I'm scoreboard-watching in the minor leagues.
