I wondered about that when I heard it on the radio here at work. What did Wells do?

Lilly dropped a great bunt down the 1b line on him in his first AB and almost beat it out at first.

When Wells came to the plate in the 5th, he dropped one down the 3b line and looked at Lilly when he was going back to the dugout to let him know that he could do that too.

very impressive not self destructing after the 5th inning with the fans

WTH! Doesn't anybody own an iron anymore?

haha its the first one i found for a picture, and well they are 3-0 since i started using it

Disregard Swordsman's previous chastising post.

Use it. Use it every game.

well, i plan on it...and if i have it my way...i'll be starting game threads until well after the 4th of july

Well, I hope you're right considering I'm going to a the games in DC (July2, 4th & 5th)

I am going to the game on the 3rd in DC!! Yippee. I really think they a re turning the corner and it might be time for some of you to start giving Lou some credit--the guys that are helping turn this season around would never have played under Dusty.

Well, I am off to see the Iowa Cubs now tonight. I am excited to go watch Patterson play.

i whole heartedly agree...i posted earlier about the way dusty would run guys playin like crap out there and lou has not (i.e. finally not giving jacque jones regular at bats and letting floyd play more and more...also how theriot tried at SS earlier cuz he was hot and cesar is not)...dusty just made an excuse for their poor play and ran em back out there

That is the second "Rented Mule" reference I have read on the board in the last five minutes.

You guys rent a lot of mules.

Yeah, it was brutal; the first time in our history that an NL team swept a season series from us!

My favorite is the one where Chan Ho Park pitched 9 innings of 2 hit ball against us and we lost 1-0 in 11 innings.

mine was the error when cedeno threw the wet ball in the dugout thinking that he had time

So what did the fans do in the 5th inning?

So what did the fans do in the 5th inning?

Im watching the game now... I have no will power to not see the score.

anyway, some greasy, ponytailed man reached out of the bleachers with his glove and knocked a ball hit by dlee down from the basket. it could have been considered a home run, but it probably would have been a double.

and for extra fun, the guy looked like he was ready to jump off a building after the play.

Nice to see a 4-1 start to the homestand! Excellent start by Lilly, and NICE DEFENSE, DEROSA.

Lou sent out the best possible lineup without ARam. Nice job DLee and Fontenot.

And nice to see JACQUE JONES break out of his slump with a 9th inning, pinch-hit...oh wait....nevermind.

The umprire saw the fan touch the ball on the play where Floyd jumped up:

The Cubs argued interference. According to Rule 3.16, if a spectator clearly prevents a fielder from catching a fly ball, the umpire shall declare the batter out. But apparently it wasn't clear if Floyd could've caught the ball. Floyd thought otherwise.

"I was definitely going to catch it," Floyd said.

Said umpire Gerry Davis: "There's no way he could've caught the ball."

It's somewhere in between. I think Floyd certainly could have caught it, but it was no sure thing.

Actually got to listen to this game on the radio (though it was a San Diego radio station) on the drive down to Santa Barbara today. Listened from the 5th inning on. I'm loving the solid pitching performances. Z, Marshall, and Lilly have all gone 8 innings in their most recent starts.
