i hope Lou sends out Felix today.

I think he can light Wells up. He is all kinds of exciting to watch. He reminds me of another Cub OF of the past (whose name we do not mention b/c of the pain involved) with the speed and the lefty swing.

Cant wait to see how it all turns out with Felix. Been a long time (probably since BobbyD and Ryno) that its actually fun watching the first 2 guys bat in our lineup.

Go Cubbies

Me too. The kid really has me sold.

Wells' has been hit pretty hard away from PETCO Park -

2-3, 7.31 ERA, .367 BAA on the road, along with 1-1, 6.89 ERA, .323 during the day - basically, the Cubs should be able to put up some crooked numbers today.

isn't that what we said about Weaver yesterday?

3 is a crooked number, of course, they followed with a lot of 0's - too bad each 0 didn't add another decimal place - in that case, it would have been a very large crooked number.

From the Cubs.com article...

Barrett is playing today and Sunday

Jones is getting time off to clear his head-no word on how long. Floyd will start against right-handers and Pagan against left-handers for now in right field.

With that said, the lineup will most likely be:

Soriano

Pie

Lee

Barrett

DeRosa

Theriot

Pagan

Izturis

Lilly

Here's the link on that info-has some good quotes on Barrett that I provided in another thread.

I guess that's a kinder way of saying he can't hit, run the bases or throw the ball very well.

Barrett is a mess! He's the one guy that I thought was going to have a big year for us.

Why wouldn't Fontenot be starting?

He didn't start against the left-hander on Tuesday-my guess from that is that he won't start today, although he certainly could.

Wells' has been hit pretty hard away from PETCO Park -

2-3, 7.31 ERA, .367 BAA on the road, along with 1-1, 6.89 ERA, .323 during the day - basically, the Cubs should be able to put up some crooked numbers today.

I think he benefits from having a spacious home ballpark.

Pie

Lee

Floyd

DeRosa

Barrett

Fontenot

Theriot

Lilly

I know Barrett is 6th and Fontenot and Theriot follow him... Floyd hits pretty well off of LHP in his career (.273). The article said that Pagan would start against some lefties (implying that Floyd would get the majority of the time) but I think Lou feels Cliff can handle Wells. This year Cliff is hitting .375 against lefties in 8 ABs.

I heard the lineup earlier on the radio while jogging. I think it's:

Soriano

Pie

Lee

Floyd

DeRosa

Barrett

Fontenot

Theriot

Lilly

I really like that lineup. As someone said a few days ago, Fontenot is actually the only left-hander on the team who hits left-handers at least decently. Floyd is 2-6 with a HR against Wells in his career, so he's been pretty good against him. Izturis is only 2-11 against Wells in his career and has been absolutely awful against LHP this year (.485 OPS against LHP), so it's good to see him out of the lineup today.

Mike Fontenot, in his second stint with the team this season, is riding a 6-game hitting streak into today’s contest … he’s hitting .409 (9-for-22) during the streak.

ROOKIE REVIEW: Lefty reliever Clay Rapada made his major league debut yesterday vs. Seattle, stranding 2 runners and retiring Raul Ibanez in the sixth inning, the only batter he faced … Rapada is the fifth rookie to appear in a game for Chicago this season, joining pitchers Rocky Cherry and Sean Gallagher, infielder Mike Fontenot and outfielder Felix Pie.

The Cubs are sporting a .346 on-base percentage this month, 21-points higher than their .325 May OBP … Chicago recorded a .326 OBP in April.

AS OF LATE…: The Cubs are 8-4 in their last 12 games since June 3 … in that stretch, the Cubs have allowed 3 or fewer earned runs in all 8 victories while surrendering at least 5 earned runs in each of the 4 defeats.

Chicago is 2-0-1 in its last 3 series, going 2-1 in Milwaukee, 2-2 in Atlanta and 2-1 vs. Seattle … that follows a stretch in which Chicago went 3-7-0 in their previous 10 series dating to May 1.

The Cubs are looking to win consecutive home series for the first time since taking 3- straight last season, September 12-27, vs. Los Angeles (2-1), Cincinnati (2-1) and Milwaukee (2-0).
