Uh, yeah it was. He got him on the back when he was <6" from the bag.

 

It took a pretty nice throw to get him.

 

at least he didn't get hit in the sac again.

DeRosa is patient, takes pitches, great dicipline, a fighter at the plate... and eventually gets on base. So why did the Cubs sign him?

I have no idea why we went after him, but I'm glad we did. He's been wonderful for us.

Because he was coming off a career year that he could never possibly measure up to again, if you recall.

Good thing Pie got thrown out there. We wouldn't have wanted a run there or anything.
