girardi wouldn't be any better....i don't know why everyone seems to think he would be....the problem isn't the manager here....it's the ballplayers.

I'd ship all 3 out. Along with Hendry.

(Z and Barrett for good value.)

..... and this wont help our chances of keeping Z either.

Who cares trade him for a top prospect package or Texiera

You'd give up a top prospect for Z knowing he's a free-agent at the end of the year? At this point, we're not going to get as much for Z now as what we would've during the off-season or last season.

then maybe we can get giardi like we should have done at the start.

this team is not responding to lou at all.

Seriously doubt YES lets Girardi out of his contract. Most people say when Torre hangs it up that it is more than likely going to be Girardi taking over that clubhouse.

And i would really question his sanity/wisdom if he wanted to get tangled up in this mess.

What they're not responding to is the baseball, not their manager. Managers are only on the hook for +/- 5 wins a game. It'd be a real stretch to say that Lou is responsible for 5 losses so far.

And Michael Barrett sucks, and so does Joe Girardi. He's a younger Dusty Baker, dude.

Not saying Lou is excellent, but Girardi's success (one season mind you) is based on a bunch of overperforming youngsters.

Michael Barrett>>>>>>>>Lou Piniella when it comes to having a negative effect on the team

Considering the odds are good that Barrett ends up being a net positive for the team, while Lou has probably already put himself out of position to have any chance of a positive contribution, I'd say that's just about dead on.

just curious, who would replace barrett IF we did get rid of him?

Blanco, with either Koyie Hill or Soto backing him up.

Which is hilarious, considering I was against the Blanco signing.

the smart thing to do would be to go out and get a C using a Murton (while he still has a high ceiling). Barrett more than likely wont be resigned next year, so we could just go ahead and plug whomever in that hole.

I would like Salty, and barrett being from Atlanta would be a good fit there, but dont think Murton and Barrett get that deal done. Think that the Braves would be asking for a lot more b/c Salty has a chance of being something special.

If we're asking for Salty, the Braves will want Guzman or someone of his caliber for starters.

That might've gotten the deal done when Langerhans was batting .056 in LF for the Braves... but now that they've got a workable platoon in left and Lou has sucked all the trade value from Murton and Hendry is probably about to put himself in a situation where he feels he has to unload Barrett, there's no way it gets it done.

Hendry, the master of selling low.

We'll get an oft-injured high A flamethrower with great stuff and no results for Barrett.

Being able to have a long term, high quality type player at catcher might be worth it.

I'd consider it as well. Salty is an excellent defender and probably will hit.

Texiera? Where would he play? CF?

Neither are going to get you much at this point, Barrett was held on prob. one more year than he should've in hindsight.

Z's a FA coming off a brawl while pitching poorly, he better turn it around if the value is close to what it would've been.

You trade them to blow it up, I think there could be some good parts w/Z, just depends on a potential bidding war. No team right now would bid against itself.
