hendry doesn't have the ability to effectively blow it up. i almost don't want the cubs to trade any of their good players b/c i know hendry will [expletive] it up. i don't want a summer of maddux for izturis type trades.

The problem now is that we have lame-duck management. They have no future to plan for - their legacy is now. I don't trust Hendry to do it either.

 

Do you seriously believe Ramirez wouldn't waive his no-trade to go to a team with a chance to win? I doubt that would be any sort of issue. Lee will never match 2005 - his value will only go down.

 

No matter how you slice it, you have to trade the big chips to get some building blocks. Trading Jones, Eyre, Floyd etc is only going to get you garbage.

Sadly, this is probably what people were saying in the early 1980s. What do you guys think the chances are that the new owner is better rather than worse than the Tribune? I would say less than 25 percent.

I have no idea if the new owner will be better, but right now we're in a holding pattern. At least that will change when the sale is completed.

i wanted to leave hill in too. i was concerned about the 7th, when it looked like he may be gassed from "running" the bases...but he looked fine.
