I'd never thought I see the 2004 team topped, but it pretty much has so far. With this talent in this division the players should be embarrased.

 

With the talent the Cubs have, this division should be a freakin' cakewalk.

With the exception of the starting staff, Pie, Lee, Aramis and Theriot, is there anyone on this team worth keeping?

 

Ward, Murton... DeRosa has been solid this year and is useful because of his versatility. Barrett used to be good, though I wouldn't mind seeing him get dealt. Wuertz is good, Dempster is all right, Marmol and Guzman have potential. I'm hoping Howry comes back the next few weeks and increases his trade value.

Our problem is that we could have gotten more from our FA signings if we had just gone out and gotten six catchers.

 

We needed OBP and power, we signed Soriano who hasn't shown much of either. We needed pitchers with control, we got that somehow. We needed a bullpen, we were too busy getting hackers with no power.

 

you can't blame Hendry for Soriano not hitting for power He averaged 37 the past five years.

Barrett has seriously regressed this year. I would have wholeheartedly objected to his being dealt before the season started, but if he keeps up his current pace, I see no reason to sign him in the offseason or trade him near the deadline this season.
