So from todays game we have Lou putting in Eyre once again which ended up being the difference in the game. Also Lou left his best PH on the bench in the 9th and choose to use Angel Pagan instead. Yup

i was a bit miffed at using Eyre when we're only down 3. It's pretty much a give-up move.

Pagan in the 9th was worse though. He's one of "Lou's Horses".

If Lou uses the word "dude" after the game, I'll personally drive to Chicago and punch him in the face.

Wasn't Pagan brought in because a left-hander was on the mound when he was announced, and then Lou didn't want to simply waste him and pinch-hit for the pinch-hitter?

Who cares its the 9th inning and you have 2 runners on. You use your best ph in that situation to get the lineup to roll over and get to the top. Who cares if you "waste" Pagan, they wasted Ward by not using our best Ph in the most crucial PH spot.

Another loss due to Lou's inexcusable use of Eyre (even though Marshall gets charged with the loss). The Cubs' rally in the 9th evens up the runs Marshall allowed, but the 2 given up by Eyre decided the game. Get Eyre the hell out of Chicago before one more game is played. I don't care about his contract; he must go immediately.

then why not bring in Murton? Pagan has been pretty cold since the first game of the White Sox series. Murton has been better over the last week or so. Either way it's bad.

I'm just saying that Lou has used his bench like that for most of the season, and then people get upset when most of the bench is gone during extra innings. I would have pinch-hit Ward there myself, but it seems like most people are very worried about running out of players (which I am not) and using two pinch-hitters for the same spot doesn't help in running out of players.

All I know is we have one of the best PH in the game, and he doesnt see the field in the 9th inning rally when the bottom of our order is up. That is unacceptable, and just adds to the list of stupid things Lou has done

I don't have a problem cleaning out the bench in a game that you're 98% certain to lose anyway. The problem is that Lou will make change after change with the bullpen and the lineup in the 6th through 9th innings of a game that's tied or within a run. If your chance of going to extra innings is large, you have to account for that. But when you're down four runs in the bottom of the 9th, you pull out all the stops if you have a chance to score runs.

So after we tie the game up today, Lou brings Ohman in who proceeds to walk the first left handed batter he faces. With Howry warming up in the pen, he leaves Ohman in to face right handed batters. Lou wtf are you doing seriously?

Look I realize Murton has had some fumbles in RF, but starting the Jock strap vs. a lefty is just dumb. Ironically, Jockstrap left the bases loaded today.

I'm sick of Lou acting like a victim...yeah Hendry has given you some trash, but yet you keep throwing it on the field.

If we have a lefthanded relief pitcher in the bullpen to whom we're paying $900,000 who can't face a few righthanded hitters without collapsing, shame on Jim Hendry.

From Cubs.com

Aches and pains: Matt Murton was a late scratch Saturday because of back problems. Angel Pagan started in center field and Jacque Jones started in right.

The Cubs already were playing short-handed because Cliff Floyd has a sore rib cage he felt in batting practice on Friday.

The Rooster had a bad back today and couldn't go.

I only heard a bit of the game on the radio, but Pat and Ron said that Murton had been in the lineup they received pre-game, but was lifted due to a 'tight back.'

*eta: too late!

Bad back eh? Players today need to grow a pair.
