Hahaha, even Dusty never pulled anything like this.

Dusty never tried anything. At all. Even when on pace to lose 100 games, he tried nothing.

Man, this is really messed up. I remember how awful Dempster was in the rotation in 2005. What exactly does Lou think will make that change now?

I'm going to guess closer by committee with Howry, Wuertz, and Guzman...

I don't know. I was originally thinking they might bring up Marshall, or perhaps try Marmol @ 5th starter for the short-term and use Guzman to shore things up while they decided what to do about Eyre.

But that's not it at all. Lou is apparently thinking he can tap into Dempster's past starter experience, but I don't think his arm is conditioned for that any more.

Lou's definitely not afraid of taking a big gamble, I'll say that much at least.

Um, wow. This has a chance of working out, but that doesn't make it a good move. It looks like Lou's insistence on tinkering with everything this year has in this instance interfered with the good of the team. I don't like this move whatsoever.

Lou has shown he doesn't know how to handle a bullpen during games, and now he's showing he doesn't know how to handle a bullpen between games either.

I'd still rather have this than a do-nothing manager like Dusty. But I admit, this is a big-time ummm.....'non-standard' move

I don't know why everyone is so concerned. The move back to the rotation worked for Smoltz and the Braves.

I'm hoping that press conference went like this:

NASA Scientist: Ladies and gentlemen and members of the press. I'd like to present the new generation of NASA astronauts: the average American.

[Curtain rises to show Homer wearing a "Hail to the Chef" apron and Barney dressed as a golfer]

Reporter: Jim Wallace, Associated Press. [clears throat] Is this a joke?

NASA Scientist: Far from it, Jim. One of these men will prove space travel is within the reach of the common man.

Reporter: Toby Hunter, Minneapolis Star. No really, is this a joke?

NASA Scientist: No, Toby, and no more questions about whether this is a joke.

[Everyone lowers their hand, dejected]

So will Eyre be getting his pink slip, even though none of this affects a lefty pitcher?

'Cuz just getting him off this team might actually offset this other crap. He's that bad.

What the hell? CSN now says he's back in the pen...but Dempster was just on CSN saying he was starting.
