Why might the Angels do it? One of their strengths is the depth of their system. If they need a guy like Jacques to help them this year, I don't think giving up their #7 prospect is a terrible idea - especially when that #7 has Aybar and Wood in line ahead of him.

Jacque for Dustin Moseley. Moseley would be a pretty good 5th starter for the Cubs. Then the Cubs could move Guzman to the pen where he would be more dominate in short roles.

Sean Rodriguez's stats (.260/.386/.441).

 

He has some power, probably will move to 2B or be a utility guy at the end. Not a bad prospect.

 

Why will he probably move to 2nd? If this is because of arm or range (The usual reasons for the move) than why make this trade when the Cubs already have EPat in the wings and DeRosa, Theriot and Fontenot at 2nd?

This trade makes decent sense, we'd save a little cash in the process, and we'd have a legitimate SS, moving Theriot over to 2B until EPatt is legitimately ready for the show.

The only problem would be waiting for Rodriguez to be ready for the show. He's no further along than Patterson.

I doubt they are trading Izturis. If he keeps up his current season numbers, they'll keep him. If he drops, he'll become untradable.

All of these players are worse with 70 AB's or more. While the Cubs have a little bit of a black hole, so do a lot of other teams. I'm sure Izturis would have some value-I just don't think the Cubs are interested in trading him. The only way they make a deal is if they can get one of the top 5-6 SS's someway at the deadline.

Yeah which is why I beleive it's just a good move "for the future". Get rid of JJ, get a real decent SS prospect. However, you take JJ out of CF, then you have Pie and Pagan sharing CF. Where do you make up the offense?

I don't get how Jones over Pie is the difference between wanting to win or not this year. Jones is no guarantee to do anything.
