  1. The Marlins were a much better and truly championship caliber team. Their pitching was light years better and their offense wasn't that far behind once Miggy Cabrera came into the lineup.
  2. Detwiler is a good kid, he'll do well in Washington. Talk about a high riser though. The guy barely made Team USA (he was literally the last guy taken) and now he's #6 overall.
  3. Little brother, I'm guessing? EDIT: I guessed wrong.powers voice> Third cousins. Yeah, just missed that. They're very distant cousins. I asked him about that when I met him...lol.
  4. Yeah can't believe the Sox let those 2 guys go, although they did go get Yasmani. but still, passin on Harvey, Peavy and Carpenter hurts.
  5. So I have to ask, am I the only one who thinks that the Red Sox draft was absolute garbage?
  6. As a Red Sox fan, I'll formally offer you Lugo for Izturis..... ok...you can stop laughing now.
  7. As a Red Sox fan, I'm waitin for Miguel Cabrera to hit the market.
  8. Wow. Passing on Price would be a huge mistake.
  9. Anyone hear anything about these two West Coast Guys? Brandon McKerney- Apparently he's tearin it up at Washington and is expected to be drafted in the top 5-10 rounds. Darin Holcomb, Gonzaga- He's draft eligible, but I don't know what his propsects are.
  10. Yes, it did say that Pitt would like Vitters. I still can't believe Arencibia is out of round 1. I didn't think his back problems were that big of a deal. Especially when he was the best hitter on TEAM USA last year.
  11. its worth noting that in the mayo draft despite wieters not going in the top ten, there are two boras guys in it. Oh I dont' doubt it. I just remember reading somethin about Boras expectign Texiera money for Wieters.
  12. On the bad side, I've heard a comp between Eric Munson and Wieters - I sure as hell don't want Wieters in that case. You still think he'll stick at catcher? Nothing about him makes me thing that he won't be a catcher. Munson's problem was that he had that loooooooooooong aluminum bat swing. And with a -5 (at the time) he really could get away with it. Wieters doesn't appear to have that problem.
  13. You wanna know why Derek Jeter gets those hits in those "clutch" situations? The same reason Papi does, or why Manny RAmirez is always driving in runs.... BECAUSE THEY'RE GOOD HITTERS TO BEGIN WITH.
  14. The reason Wieters might fall out of the top 10 is if the Cubs pass, it looks like those teams after them really dont' wanna deal with Boras again. And with the August 15th deadline now approaching, no one wants to deal with his crap anymore.
  15. Gota agree with what he said, it's hard to concentrate with that girl in your face...lol. But I'll try. I was born in 85 and I'm feelin old now that people that are younger than my little sister are now getting drafted. I worked with Team USA last year and I was older than every singe one of them....that made me realize how old I am. LOL
  16. You guys are nuts. Rodriguez would be one of your infielders for the next 10 years, probably at 2B being paired with Eric Patterson. Rodriguez has the ability to give you 20 jacks from the 2B position and if he even comes close to his minor league OBP this year, that's an above average 2B, and a VERY good deal for the Cubs. Anaheim can aford to move him becuase they have Wood, Aybar and Kendrick for their up the middle spots.
  17. Clutch is laughed at because it is not a player intangible. "Clutch" does not make you a better hitter. It's more or less f*cking luck. There is a such thing as a clutch play or a clutch hit, but not a clutch player.
  18. Good to see Vandy doin well. David Price and Pedro Alvarez are two of the classiest guys around. And great to see Virginia being elite, they got quite a Newport Gulls connection goin on out there.
  19. By the end of 2008 many teams might have different financial situations. Of course, the Yankees might be out from under ARod's contract. I could see the Mets and the Angels really upping the ante too. Don't forget the Sox will be out from under the heavy contracts (over the next 2 years) of: Lowell (this year) Schilling (this yaer, maybe next) Wakefield (almost 5 mil..could retire at any time) Manny (after 08) Varitek (after 08) They're gonna have soem serious money to throw around after the 2008 season.
  20. Brandon Wood moved from SS so he cuold get into the Major League lineup quicker. He and Sean Rodriguez are going to be the left side of that Angel infield for a very long time.
  21. A fun one would be about how the media portrays and determines our views on players. And if you did that, I would recommend buying Canseco's book. It really shows you how easy it is to f*ck with the media to get what you want out of it.
  22. So, how do I break it to you Cub fans that David Price is a D-Rays fan who would prolly love to pitch for his favorite team.
  23. HE's probably more like 6th behind St. Clair and Moskos. Teams think both of those guys could have futures as starters.
  24. As I said before, Wieters willl make the Majors as a catcher IMO. He's a good enough defensive player to make it there. And even if he can't stay there, 3B or RF will be a great spot for him with his absurd right arm. The guy has an absolute laser arm.
  25. That's really the only concern with Price. He's absolutely fantastic, but his mechanics are so odd that when they get out of whack it really does hurt him.
