BAH!!! even if they do finish this game today, im not gonna be able to watch it, NASCAR comes on at 7 and i live in NC, no way do they pre-empt NASCAR for MLB

It's raining at Darlington too, so they'll probably go right back to the game (if it's on).

oh you really are a cubs fan...even im not that optimistic

So if the game continues but Fox switches to Nascar...where can we watch the rest of the game? MLB Extra Innings? MLB.TV? No where?

Knowing Fox I would bet we can't

Update from Ken Rosenthal on the field: Rain is supposed to pass over within the next 15-25 minutes, with a dry window of about an hour hopefully to follow.

Nobody is going to see this game. Fox's MLB coverage cuts off at 7pm EST.

Did I hear right that Grace is doing the commentary for this game?

The TEX/ANA game, yes. Not the Cub game.

I'm not sure if Fox has had Gracie doing the Cubs yet.

I love Mark Grace, I really do, but when the Cubs were playing the Cards on Fox, in his postgame analysis talking about how the Cubs were starting to come together and perform, he rattled off this gem:

"Lets not forget how well Wade Miller has done for them in the 5th spot" or something like that.

I was like... "what"

Eww.

Yeah, those NASCAR races probably pull ratings that a reg season baseball game can't dream of.

I don't understand the excitement of watching cars drive in circles for hours.

even worse, listening to people talk about watching cars driving around in circles

And it looks like NASCAR will have a "weather delay." The stands look fairly empty there right now.

They had a huge cell that just passed there as well. It's still raining there, so at the earliest, the race would start at probably 7:15 central.

I'll never understand it either.

I'm guessing they probably won't show the rest of the game.

Could the game then be shown on MLB Extra innings?

No, who is going to cover it?

The Fox crew will pack up and leave, announcers and all.

I didn't understand it until I started hanging out with people who are into it. It's actually quite interesting, and this is someone who's favorite form of automobile racing is the rally.

You really don't think there are any other crews there?

I remember one Sunday when I was driving around in Germany I flipped over to Armed Forces Radio to see if they had any baseball games on. Instead they were playing radio coverage of a NASCAR race. I actually left it on for a minute or two out of some kind of sick curiosity...similar to the way people slow down to check out an accident while they're driving to work. Radio NASCAR was definitely rough.

Play by Play guy: "Lets go down for a pit report."

Pit announcer: "Well right now it looks like..." (then there's too much car noise to hear him as everyone is driving past the pit...all I could hear was a few random words sprinkled into the fractions of seconds as the cars drove past.)

I don't watch NASCAR...but I agree that listening to it seems to be even more pointless.

You kids and your newfangled televisions. All games broadcast on radio.

Only radio guys, who else would be there?
