jones was .250 against lefties starting the game. i'm sure pie was worse

 

jock is 226/280/370/650 the past three years against lhp

 

And Pie had similar numbers against AAA left-handers last year.

 

When this lineup is in the game, there simply isn't a good pinch-hitting option against a left-handed pitcher. Floyd and Pie are as bad as Jacque against LHP, and Blanco and Izturis are just terrible hitters.

Marquis really cruised throughout the game. He was pretty awesome.

Who would of thunk that after a 15inning game the starter to pitch a CG after it would be Marquis.

He's good. But he WILL be somewhat worse the 2nd half. Keep in mind I've always been a Marquis supporter. He'll drop off a little bit, but will still overall, have a great year.

I think it's already safe to say on Lilly. Marquis had a pretty rough 3-yr trend coming into this year, culminated in last year's suckfest. I'll wait just a LITTLE longer to go that far on him, though he can have a 4.5 ERA across the rest of the season and still fall under the 'good acquisition' category, so he'll have to work pretty hard not to get there.

well, yeah, he isn't going to have a 1.71 ERA all year, but starting pitching has definitely NOT been a problem this year

I think he'll end up in the mid to high 3's in ERA. Which is what I predicted for him earlier in the off-season.
