Thanks for the recaps!

A lot of good news in there. I'm actually surprised that Izturis lost his job so quickly, but am not really shocked since I didn't think Izturis was any better than Neifi Perez.

If the Cubs could trade Neifi Perez, I'm sure they can find a sucker to take Izturis off their hands before the trade deadline.

The killer is who we gave up for this putz. Would have love to see Mad dog get a cpl more wins here

At least it's refreshing to see a move made quickly, rather than the Dusty philosophy of letting a horrid player like Neifi start game after game with nothing being done about it.

Agreed. I just hope Theriot continues his hot streak and makes it where the only part of Izturis' uniform that gets dirty is the seat of his pants from sitting on the bench.

Hot streak?

His line is .188/.188/.188 in the last 7 games. He probably needs a day or two off.

I hope Theriot can find his hot streak again-his OBP is down to .328, and his SLG is similar to that. He needs to hit better than that if he expects to keep starting long-term.

I love Theriot, but you do wonder if he is cut out to be an everyday player. He seemed perfect in the super-sub role where he could come into the game and make something happen. A lot of players like that (Freel, Figgins, etc.) end up not looking so great when they become everyday players.

I don't. I'm pretty certain he's not. But that's okay, he can still contribute by being a .360 OBP guy making $350,000 on the bench.

He's better than our other options (Izturis, Cedeno).

Probably, but that doesn't mean it makes sense to play him every day. They probably need to try and set-up a platoon and hope one guys gets hot now and again.

I'd like to see a little more before settling in on the idea. It's too painful the black hole we have @ SS.
