I've searched through a few pages of threads, but didn't see anything in particular about him.

How has he looked this year so far? Anybody have a stat line for him, and what kind of league(pitching/hitting friendly) he is in?

I'm not sure about the pitching/hitting for his park, but here are his stats so far:

Colvin: 55 AB's, .309/.333/.491, 5 2B's, 1 3B, 1 HR, 2 BB, 11 K, 4 SB/1 CS.

I'd like to see him walk a little bit more, but I think that's a pretty good line so far for somebody who skipped a level.

thanks guys. looks pretty good for a pitcher friendly league.

do you think he will project into our outfield at some point, considering soriano's contract, pie, murton, etc? i remember reading after the draft that Wilkins compared him to alex rios, and that would be stellar.

When Colvin is ready for the bigs, he will over-ride Murton IMO (but I highly doubt he'll even be with us by that point).

I think Murton will be gone by the time that Colvin is ready. Even if Murton is still here, he would probably take a back seat to Colvin.

you don't think if murton is still with the cubs in three years that he will have established himself enough to not be overtaken by a rookie?

For a college player, wouldn't 3 years be a little much anyway? That would mean he spent a whole year in Daytona, Tennessee, and Iowa-if he turns out to be a great prospect, won't it be more likely he'll do it in 2?

I'm not sure about the Murton/Colvin thing. There's simply too much to project to really know much for sure even next year, let alone 2 years from now.

.309/.333/.491/.824. Only 2 BBs though (and one of them was intentional). Has looked great defensively.

He's in a pitcher friendly league.

Isn't he playing CF...Does he project as a CF or is he corner outfielder who hits like Murton....?

He's been playing CF, and from all reports I've seen he's been a defensive stud out there. I don't see any reason why he couldn't stick in CF. As far as hitting goes, they're quite different. To me Murton is a linedrive/doubles kind of hitter with average speed. He's got good a good eye and OBP, but not a whole lot of pop. From what I've seen of Colvin he's more of a flyball hitter with much more power and also much better speed. He will strike out more and probably won't get on base as much as Murton will, but overall he's a much more dangerous player.

That's nice to hear. I thought he would handle CF well. He was obviously way above NWL average in left. He could also handle right. He has a very strong and accurate arm. Defensively I thought he was ready for the show last year. IMHO all he needs to work on is pitch recognition.

That is good to hear...Everyone was so negative when the Cubs took him. Its nice to hear that we might actually have a position player who can hit..

I would like a Fonzie, Pie, Colvin outfield. Package Murton and Samarja for Brandon Wood.

Over/under on how long it would take for Stoneman to hang up on Hendry? I say 0.28 seconds.

Angels are one of those teams who like players that make contact. It's about the only reason he's not on the major league team at this point.

samardzija cant even be traded yet and there almost no chance hes ever traded
There's no way someone can say a player will never be traded. Anything can happen in the future.

Good thing he didn't say that. Seriously, do you even read the things you reply to?

Over-react much? NCCF was adding on to Mephistopheles's statement, not trying to cut him down.

He said there's almost no chance Samardzija will be traded, and I'm saying there's no way one can say that so early in his career. Yes, I did read his post; I just left the word "almost" out of my reply.

He said there's almost no way he's ever traded (doesn't he have some sort of no-trade clause?), and you replied with "there's no way someone can say a player will never be traded. Which he didn't say. You didn't just leave the word "almost" out, you replaced it with a word with an entirely different meaning, it was a cheap thing to do.
