I really don't think Lee's power is coming back any time soon.

yeah look out, now he's on pace for the mid-teens...

No kidding. It's not like anyone was assuming he would never hit a home run again. I still don't think he's gonna be reaching his career norm for HR's this year.

I don't understand the alleged correlation between batting average and home runs.

Lee's batting average is being propped up by an insanely high, and impossible to maintain, batting average on balls in play. Once some of these hits stop dropping in and start finding gloves, the average will go down. If he starts hitting more homeruns that will be less of an issue, because a homerun isn't in play. It's not a coincidence that Lee's highest batting average season was also his highest HR season. What once may have been a flyout is now a hit.

That's not 100% accurate as early on, many of his flyballs were off the wall doubles. In the past, those were going out so in either case, they were not being caught.

Breaking up the season into 10 game increments, Lee has put up the following lines...........

Lee BA OBP SLG OPS BABIP RC BDI LOB RBI%
04/02 - 04/14 0.390 0.444 0.512 0.957 0.500 9.3 8 16 0.333
04/15 - 04/24 0.342 0.468 0.447 0.915 0.433 8.0 5 11 0.313
04/25 - 05/08 0.455 0.529 0.773 1.302 0.500 18.0 6 21 0.222
05/09 - 05/18 0.333 0.333 0.333 0.667 0.400 2.0 0 6 0.000
05/19 - 05/29 0.216 0.256 0.459 0.716 0.231 4.4 7 12 0.368

season totals 0.354 0.425 0.534 0.959 0.424 40.4 26 66 0.283

Lee appears to be trending down after a hot start. Let's hope last night's performance is the beginning of another hot streak for Derek.

you're talking to a guy who supports his argument for floyd with video of one of his two homeruns.

so four kinda seems like a lot to him.

Yeah, at some point, you gotta take that down, right? Aren't Murton and Floyd putting up essentially equal stats this year. Other than RBI, their stats are oddly similar. And Floyd has had many more RBI chances - 60 ABs with guys on 33 w/ RISP v. 38 and 20 for Murton - though Floyd is hitting really well in those situations (very small sample size).
