Why didn't we pinch hit Z?

Because if the game is tied there's no one to pay SS. Izturis PH earlier.

Marquis, Pie, Zambrano across the outfield

Ramirez, Theriot, DeRosa, Jones across the infield.

I don't see Marquis playing OF

You don't? What do you think was going to happen if we tied the game?

Marquis, Pie, Jones

Ramirez, Cedeno, Theriot, DeRosa

With no help from the excellent fielding of Jacque Jones.

Jacque's dumb move just allowed the runner to advance to 2B. That guy was going to score. They were definitely sending the runner on Jones' arm.

Don't you think it should be on whoever's bright idea it was to make room on the roster for Pie while deciding that both Ohman and Cedeno needed to stay?

There were so many people that should have been sent down before Guzman.

I enjoyed this thread in spite of the outcome. With Yahoo and ESPN out and no TV around I was following the game by reading all your posts.

Very entertaining / informative - thanks all.

And Theriot.

Did his error at 2b lead to a run? I can't remember. All I remember is Jones pulling up on a fly ball only to let it get past him. Jerk.

How many games is Ohman going to blow before we get him out of there?

It's not really his fault. We were never going to score...EVER! Someone was bound to give up a run.

What about Murton? Didn't he miss a fly ball earlier? Even if they did call it a hit!

Yeah, he blew it, but we didn't score a damn run in the final 9 innings.

They hadn't scored since the second inning. Every other Cubs pitcher managed to keep them off the board. :x

I'm not going back 50 or so pages but somebody called an Ohman loss haha. Wow.

pretty much everybody in the thread callled it. Starting in the 7th or 8th when he first started warming up.

Yeah, why was Guzman sent down again?

i still don't see why everyone was swinging for the fences with the winds blowing in at eleventy-nine mph

i think you're giving baseball players too much credit if you think they can really differentiate between "home run swing" and "hard line drive swing."

i guess they could all just chop the ball on the ground, but i doubt that would've been a huge success either.

He pitched two innings yesterday and he was sent down *presumably* to get stretched out for a newly opening spot in the rotation.

I believe many of us knew it was over as soon as Ohlman got up in the bullpen. With the trade of Neifi Perez, Ronny Cedeno is clearly the worst hitter in the Cubs orgainzation, its not close.

Cedeno is the backup utility player. He's fine. Ohman just sucks!!!! I wanted him gone but I was fine with Guz going down because it sets up for him to be stretched out... In light of 14 innings and a burned through bullpen, it was the wrong move. Clearly.

Ohman is not endearing himself to anyone.
