Anyone else think Lilly is more likely to get rocked pitching right behind Hill? It can't be good for us for the Reds to see two similar, LH pitchers back to back can it? Not optimistic for this game, but hoping to eat some crow.

No, I disagree. I think 2 LHPs in a series against the Reds is a plus. LHPs should help to neutralize the dangerous LH bats in their lineup. Of course, that still means Lilly has to pitch well but I don't think a second lefty puts the team at a disadvantage.

Just what I was thinking. The Reds have big threats from the left side. As long as Lilly doesn't have some crazy Mike Remlinger-type-reverse-splits going on it should be a plus.

Some of the advantages Hill has against the Reds stem from the fact that he's tough against LH hitters, namely Griffey and Dunn, which is true for Lilly. As long as Lilly's hitting his spots, the Cubs shouldn't be the ones disadvantaged today.

It would sure be nice to have Hill and Lilly keep it up the rest of 2007.

I've been following them for nearly 30 years and I can't recall a Cubs rotation having two leftys in it...can anyone else?

Two great starts out of three for Lilly. Two great starts out of two for Hill. One great start out of three for Zambrano.

And his start against Houston was nothing to be ashamed of either (6 IP, 3 ER). It wasn't great but it was good enough that it should have gotten the job done. I've been more than pleased with Lilly so far this year.

Toni Ginnetti / The Sun-Times[/url]"] Two left-handed starting pitchers is a luxury for most teams -- and one the Cubs have in Rich Hill and Ted Lilly.

The two pitched on consecutive days Saturday and Sunday against the Reds, but that will change soon. Piniella will adjust the rotation after the next turn through to put right-hander Jason Marquis between the lefties.

The lefties have been the Cubs' most effective starters, with Hill leading the National League in ERA (0.64).
