I was playing a baseball video game from 04 a few days ago and played as the Cubs and just kept thinking, "how did this team not win the world series?" Its crazy. A lineup of Patterson (when he had a decent year), Walker, Sosa, Alou, Lee, Ramirez, Barrett, Gonzales, with a rotation of Wood, Prior, Zambrano, Maddux, Clement. That was such a good team and we didn't even make the playoffs.

 

Substitute Nomar in for Gonzalez at July 31st as well. That was a pretty amazing team on paper.

I get this awful feeling that when the bats wake up, they'll do all of their scoring in one game and then go back to hitting nothing the next day.

 

Can we have a bunch more arguments about how we need to hit less home runs and bunt more? I remember those fondly.

 

I much prefer teh arguments about how someone, ANYONE, needs to get on base.

I believe Guzman can be a solid reliever, like I said a few nights ago, but he needs to be pushed into the rotation right now.

I believe Guzman can be a solid reliever, like I said a few nights ago, but he needs to be pushed into the rotation right now.

I'm with you. Prior hasn't pitched, probably because of injury(what else is new) and Miller sucks. Guz is our best option right now.

True, but I was thinking more about the team they started out with because then we started having all those stupid injuries and the Sosa saga started. Although a lot of that was the curse of Dusty and not the goat.
