Len interviews Lou

It's worth pointing out that I have a friend who's met Len and says he's about the nicest, most genuine person you can imagine. I've never gotten any impression otherwise, and this interview was just another example. Good stuff.

I only saw a couple innings during my lunch break - could someone tell me what was wrong with Boyd/the umpiring?

I think the most blatant example was Woody getting the low sinker all game , consistently with a couple of inches off the corner as well. then, to lead of the ill fated eighth (see first inning to Lee/Aram), Howry threw a beauty of a sinker right over the middle with very late break. ball. should have struck out Ensberg. I'm just as p'd about that pitch as the one to Everett.

come the next inning, Gabe White throws the exact same pitch as Howry, only a little lower, and suddenly it was a strike again. Williams got a few calls right where the K to Everett should have been as well.

same thing happened yesterday. Cotts didn't get pitches Capuano got, Wise and inbred looking guy got pitches Miller didn't. happened in Sheets/Z too, but to a lesser extent.

call me crazy if you want, but it's been going on consistenely for years.

I'm a Len fan as well. Here's an interview that took place today on The Mike North Show. I don't care for the show but it was a chance to hear from Len.

I think there is a secret orginazation that never wants the cubs to win. That explains it all. The umpire is either part of it or has been brainwashed (among countless other umpires) to make calls unfair to the cubs, and in favor of their opponent.

The thing that absolutely killed me is that Williams would get a curveball that broke a foot outside to RH called for a strike. I mean, just following the trajectory of that pitch makes it unmistakably easy to tell it's a ball(as opposed to the low or inside strikes on fastballs), and Williams still got it at least a half dozen times.

James Hoye is listed as a 2007 Minor League Call-Up Umpire on the MLB Umpire Roster page.

Let's stick to calling him Boyd. Serves the moron right.

His 'performance' today puts him into the 'elite' ranks of Angel Gonzalez/Bruce Froemming/Hunter Wendlestedt territory.

7 games in, and we are the laughing stock of the league.

Is every single article going to say the cubs spent 300mill and haven't won a world series since 1908?

Yup. Every single time. And you can bet that Mariotti, Sullivan, etc. will mention it every time he writes a Cubs-centered column.

I went back and looked again since I had it on the DVR, and it was so blatant. A lot of times, I attribute that stuff to inconsistencies, but this looked like it was intentional.

A blind man could have thrown strikes with the zone Woody Williams was getting today.

Someone better talk about this. Whether it is the pre-game show, mr. miles, chicago tribune live. But there better be mention of this.

Adding some more fuel to the conspiracy.

Pretty telling.

Especially since Gameday usually moves the pitches if the ump gets it wrong (and don't tell me it doesn't happen).
