...made all the plays in LF, but jeez - he almost fell over doing it. I guess we can blame it on the wind. I still love that kid.

Until he misses one. He is good.

He looked atrocious out there.

At this point, I'd rather have Murton in as a defensive sub.

My guess is that Lou feels the same way-he probbaly just didn't feel the difference between Murton and Theriot defensively was enough to lose Theriot for the game. If picking a guy to sub, Murton would probably haved gotten the call, but since Theriot had already been called on to bunt it was easier for him to stay in.

i usually don't care that much about defense (especially OF defense), but this outfield has the potential to be brutal...especially with no late-inning substitute. one of theriot or cedeno may have to go to make room for an extra OF.

Game Notes say that Murton was held out as emergency catcher...but i could have sworn i saw Blanco in the dugout at one point during the game.

Part of the joy in carrying 12 pitchers is the dilemma it can create in the field late in a ballgame where many of the extras are used or are not available b/c of injury or major cases involving intl smuggling, conspiracy, and money laundering. Hopefully we can return to normalcy and 11 pitchers soon.

Nice sacrifice by the Riot. If Dusty had called that, everyone would have been screaming on this board. But oh well, nice move Lou.

PS- thought Thom and Brantley did a good job working together, although it sounded like Brant may have had a few cocktails during the pre-game.

Most of my screaming was over Dusty calling for that in the first 2 innings at home.

Yes, this ^.

I wasn't a huge fan of Lou calling the sacrifice, but in that kind of the situation (late, on the road, etc) it can work.

However, the hit & run with Cedeno and Soriano was absolutely stupid.

I really don't think that Lou called for Cedeno to go on that SB attempt/H&R attempt. Just judging by Lou's reaction on the bench. Maybe he was p'd that Soriano swung and missed? dunno.

Another little note, watched the game with my buddy who played with Theriot at LSU, and he was telling me that Ryan used to touch 90 on the gun. Interesting - didn't know his arm was that strong. He also thinks that Ryan would be a great SS (Theriot was a good SS in college).

Blanco was in the dugout (or his twin cousin).

Was nice to hear Thom call a game again. I miss him and Steve Stone calling games together.

Brantley is awful.

Even Marge Simpson isn't married to that loud and obnoxious of a Homer.
