Just a little mental exercise here:

* The Cubs have a yearly attendance of 3 million

* I think it is safe to say that worldwide there is a whole lot more than 3M Cubs fans

* If we can get 3M fans to donate $300 each, then we would be able to raise $900M

* Surely that would be enough for us fans to BUY this ball club, right?

* If an idea like this would even have a chance of pushing through, I think we would have to get vance to head the fund-raising. :)

And as one newspaper put it, what happens when the fans become upset at the ownership, do they run themselves out of town? No one would be ok with it since 300 people can't all be involved in descisions reguarding the club. It's a nice dream, but I don't see it as practical at all.

Remember a lot of Cubs fans liked Pierre until he sucked so terribly that it became trendy to dislike him.

I'm not sure that would be a good idea even if it were possible.

What happens when all 3 million owners want to sit in the owners suite for Opening Day?

They'll just have to wait their turn

I know this is just a hypothetical idea, but the other 29 owners would never approve that.

lol. i could just imagine the next winter meetings having to be scheduled in an open field just to accommodate all the Cubs owners :D

On second thought, if I win tonight's power ball I'm buying the News-Star and you can bet changes are in store.

If you win the lottery we could take it down and put it on black 21 on the roullette table

Who are the early names that will be worth talking about buying the Cubs?

Cuban, Colangelo, Bill Murray.....

Assuming vance does win the powerball, i think you'd have to throw his name in there too...

Maybe I need to go and learn to play the lottery.

I work at CDW and there is a rumor going around that the founder of our company Michael Krasny is looking to be the majority owner of a group to buy the Cubs. I don't know if there is any truth to this rumor.

Anyony read anything about this?

CDW doesn't have any retail stores. We have our corporate headquarter up in Vernon Hills Illinois. CDW is also the fastest growing IT company in the country, who would have guessed we are second to dell at 8 billion dollars in sales compared to dells 25 million.

I started to get a bit worried if that was true.
