I'd like to join, but I think it'd be going outside my zone a little bit. Gotta stay aggressive!

[Ever notice how G.P. never responds directly to questions, or how he encodes his teachings in terms of aggressiveness?]

Join. The spring training results are encouraging, but I'd be on with any hitting coach who preached this particular philosophy, regardless of spring training results.

True... But it makes it a lot more encouraging given that he was the hitting coach for the Oakland A's.

He also did a very good job improving plate discipline for the Mariners and Pirates, IIRC.

I am JUMPING right in on this one. I've heard what he has done for the A's and I think he can do it for the Cubs. I love the guy to be honest with ya.

Already I am seeing an improvement in Ronny Cedeno (I think to myself, who the HECK IS this guy at the plate!?!?!?) and if Izturis can take more walks then he isn't such a liability at the plate afterall.

But I think it's also Lou that is helping a bit too. The combo of Perry and Piniella is STELLAR for teaching good baseball. .

If Billy Beane is alright with him, so are we!

I don't know who Gerald Perry is but I love jumping on these bandwagons

Uhh.. the new hitting coach for the Cubs? He Promotes patience. He's worked wonders with Oakland and and Seattle, during their great season.

A winner is me?

Just something I wanna add..

Ronny Cedeno had 17 walks last year.. in 550ish plate appearances. Now, even though it's spring, he has 11 walks. Still amazing. I have no doubt he'll keep it up.

Though some of this credit goes to Lou. Cedeno even credited Lou a lot during a pre-game show today. Even though Perry probably helped a little too.

I believe we were close to 1st in the NL in SLG too, so if this keeps up we'll have a heckuva offense.
