I was just watching my recording of today's WGN game and I noticed, in the 5th inning, Len was promoting the Brewers series April 6-8 ((in MIL). He said "show your support by making the drive up to the series. For tickets, visit Cubs.com or Brewers.com." He went on to add, "I'm sure there are going to be some people who are looking for opening day tickets, if you can't get 'em come on up to Milwaukee the weekend before." There was also an on screen graphic directing viewers to go to the team websites for tickets...

Going to MIL isn't the strange thing, because that place is typically packed with Cubs fans when the teams play one another. However, I've never seen the Cubs officially pushing road tickets... I wonder if they have worked out some special compensation, with the Brewers, based on the number of tickets sold? Has anyone else noticed this in the past or read about this new arrangement?

I think the sole reason is that the Cubs understand how easily they can create a home atmosphere in a division rivals park, no more, no less.

And by the way, over 2k posts in less than two months time,

I did also find that awkward. If they wanted to push road tickets, especially for teams in their own division, they should've done it with Pittsburgh.

Alrighty then... Some of us have the luxury of working from home with lots of extra time and some of us don't... I'm surprised you're here now! Apparently, every moment of your life is action packed.

Why? We can just push them to the bottom of the financial pile and nab their best players in firesales.

Well I hope your employer is getting full value for their compensation, because I can't possibly see how much work you can get done with over 30 posts a day.

I don't want this to turn into a full fledged e-beef, but I don't mind if I can't keep it on wax and it spills into the streets.

I am MY EMPLOYER, thanks for your concern.

I just love the post-police. I guess it's so much easier to pick a fight over the internet... Worry about yourself!

Perhaps he just wants to get his post count up. Flame wars are good for fast posting, until you get banned.

I can see why you chose that username, Sarcastic.

Yeah, but the only reason why you should complain is if he spams, or if he's a joke poster... Which he doesn't. Other than that, its none of your business.

i've never heard anything like that before. wow! i'm fairly certain that chip and steve used to talk up the cubs/brewers series alot before they went up north, but i don't remember either of them plugging brewers.com for fans to get tickets. that's a first on me. perhaps they have promoted other team's websites in order for cub fans to go to their games...it's been close to two years since i've seen a cubs game on chicagoland television, so i could be wrong. i do listen to pat and ron via mlbradio and they also like to talk up series, but never dropping the other team's website addy in a conversation.

Is there any particular reason that you care?

Maybe their strategy is to sell Cubs/Brewers games, and while we're buying those we can possibly buy tickets to other games non-Cub games Vs. the Brewers because they're cheap... Helping out them out.

Damn, I wish I could have gone to that series.

Stupid job and stupid spring break where I have to do things with the stupid wife around the stupid house......

Actually I'm not all that pissed about the housework. I just wish I could get time off from work to go to the games.

MLB teams split the gate, 80/20 or somesuch. It only makes sense to push the road games too.

I remember hearing some years ago that it was 70/30..... but that was a long time back, and things can change.

If thats the case, they should also try pushing Pittsburgh games.. they're the second lowest in the NL.. and rank 27/30 in the MLB. That would probably benefit the Cubs a lot more.

Except Milwaukee is an hour's drive north of Chicago, easily done by many Cub fans. Pittsburgh is significantly further away, and to either fly there or drive what I imagine would be the multiple days' drive there is somewhat outside the means of someone who has a day or a weekend to kill and wants to see a road game.

Could it have something to do with that Brewers promotion last year about "taking our house back" (or something like that) where they offered Cubs/Brewers tickets early for Wisconsin residents, to try to offset the Chicago contingent?

Just some good-natured cross-promotion to boost the rivalry, I'd guess.

That would be my guess. I live in Milwaukee and there is a pretty big push to get more Brewer fans in the stadium against the Cubs and well attendence is up in general now that we have a team with real major league players on it!
